The fading violet beach sand is all to familiar to Believe. She has been denying this idea when she saw it while still it the water, but not that she is here there is not much to deny.
She let's out a sigh at the memory of what happened the last time she was her but her two companions take it as a sign of fatigue.
"Would like like to rest for a bit?" Rits asks. The question was more for herself then Believe honesty since this has not been an easy trip.
"No I think I can push a little bit more. You guys can let go of me though I have gained back some energy." Believe replies getting out of their helping hands.
Lazarus has been silent this far and even though she doesn't want to admit it due to resent discoveries Believe is concerned. She moves to his side placing him in the middle of Rits and herself.
"Are you afraid of what's going to happen to you when we reach our destination?" Believe boldly questions him.
Without looking she knows Lazarus is frowning "What do you mean?"
"I know you are my guardian Lazarus." Believe breaths out finally making eye contact with him. He closes his eyes and takes in a deep breath.
"Not now Believe." he walks faster to get away from her.
This is the first time he has just walked away from her. No matter big their fights were he never walked away. This crushed her enough to put herself in his position for a moment.
He is scared. Her father told her Lazarus is going to get punished severely for his emotional standing with Believe. Because he loves her.
Believe paces to Lazarus and places her hand on his shoulder bring him to a halt "What are they going to do to you?"
He closes his eyes and for a moment Believe thought he would shut her out, instead he turned and held her in an embrace "I don't know and that makes me more fearful."
"Do you regret it." Believe whispers as her throat constructs. She fears the answer.
"What?"
"Loving me."
"No. No matter what happens that is the one thing I will never regret in my life." Lazarus holds Believe closer.
Rits gives them their moment as she know it might be their last. Though she does not understand how one can sacrifice so much for the other she respects it. She cannot relate nor does she think she ever will.
...
Right after the beach there is a forest unlike the one Believe knows from home. Our forest is green our plantation is green our Earth is know for its prior green appearance before industrialization. Now not so much but it's still there.
The leaves here are blue. The plantation is blue. The shades differ but the colour is clear enough not to be mistaken for purple or turquoise. The soil much like Earth's is brown. Theorists can speculate on how certain aspects in nature remain constant.
The sound is different too. The birds sound like their singing instead of chirping. The forest sounds like a babies first laugh. The air is thick for Believes lungs as she is yet to adjust to the different purity compared to the one she breathes at home.
Believe is in complete awe when she sees the vast forest. It's nothing like she had even seen or dreamt of imagining. She is surprised as to how much is like Earth's but very different at the same time. Even without expectations this imagery exceeded.
She couldn't help but let a smile creep onto her face.
"I knew this would make everything right for you for a moment." Lazarus chuckles. His understanding of Believes love for nature resurfacing after seeing her smile.
Everybody takes a moment to just breathe in the life around them. Unspokenly Believe and Lazarus feel like everything they do on this trip will be the last they do together. Unspokenly they both take their time to see the world together to ensure they would vividly remember everything to the last detail. Unknowingly their hearts beat to the same beat and for just a moment they are in sync.
The walk through the forest was cringe worthy on Believes behalf. She kept tripping over everything and nothing. Rits silently giggles to herself with each missed step. She always found that the ladies if not the vast human race failed to walk with caution, grace and attention. They seem to only walk to move instead of to get somewhere in her observations.
"This part of the forest is silent Believe as the animals and other organisms don't like the taste of the plants here. In a few minute we going to see the insects and animals. Please don't be scare most of them are harmless." Lazarus puts an end to the silent travel.
" Most does not sound as convincing as all Lazarus." Believe states when soft buzzing starts to play in the forest. Her skin begins to tingle with familiarity.
" I know that sound. " Believe talks to herself aloud. The buzzing gets louder and a figure emerges from the sky appearing to be heading straight for them.
As soon as it is in sight Lazarus grabs Believes arm and tags her "Run!" and run they do.
Believes heart is pumping so hard and fast she can feel her blood traveling in her body. As cliché as it gets the uneven ground decorated with random roots trips her. Immediately the black figure gets to her before Lazarus can help her up.
And then she sees it. It's the bugs that stung her in her last dream with the stranger.
To stunned to scream she tries to escape her capture.
Her trushing is unseen by Rits and Lazarus. The figure has lifted so high they can't reach it. They scream all cures and threats in an useless attempt to get her free. They fumble their words with fear for different reasons. While one fears for Believes safety the other fears for the punishment they will receive if anything happens to Believe.
The bug infested figure that has consumed Believe has a message to deliver. The bugs begin to whisper all at once from within. The whispers sound muffled making it difficult to hear. Believe stops fight as her energy was getting less the more she attempted to kick and punch her way out.
She feels drowsy willing to give her everything to sleep. Just as she is about to close her eye and vanish into a dreamless sleep she finally hears the bugs.
Remember me Believe?? ... The truth is more frightening than ignorance.
The statement repeated enough embroid itself into Believes mind before she silences the sounds.
