"Mommy look at me!" Lia squeals while jumping into the kiddie pool.
"That's awesome, baby!"
I clap when she rises back to the surface and waves.
This was probably the best birthday party ever, but I am still pissed off because of Mitch.
He's over in the corner talking to some of his friends, with beer in their hands.
Beer?! Really?!
At a freakin' 4-year-olds party?
How stupid!
I swing my feet back and forth in the jacuzzi, and my, does it feel good.
"Hey, I talk to you later. Jacuzzi," Mitchell nodded over to where I was.
"Woah, man," One of his friends said; a blonde with green eyes, I think.
"I have to talk to her. She just walked out on me in the middle of an argument," Mitch replies while running his hand through his hair.
"Whatever. Your going to get destroyed. Never argue with women. Never," Another one says, shaking his head.
"Right," Mitch says and with that, he walks over to where I am.
I think he knows I was staring and listening at their conversation the entire time.
"Had fun hearing?" He asks.
Yup. He knows.
"So much," I reply with a fake smile.
"Look at Lia," He points over to our daughter playing Freeze Dance.
"Aww, how cute. I love her so much," I look down at my slightly pruny hands.
"I love her, too," Mitchell looks at me.
"Why do you still want me, 'M'," I ask him, calling him his nickname.
"I dunno. I mean, I want you, but then again, I don't. I'm just so confused," He goes deeper down into the jacuzzi.
"Well make up your mind," I say and follow in after him.
"So when are you moving?" Mitch asks me.
"In about 2 weeks. I can't wait," I smile.
"Oh, ready to start a new life without me, huh?" He murmurs.
"It's not even that far. About two hours away," I say, unsure.
I've never really been to the suburbs. I have always lived in the fast-paced city, and I loved that life. The city was the only thing I have ever known.
Mitch sighs.
I sigh, too.
Suddenly, his hands snake across my waist.
I gasp quietly and look at him with wide eyes. I desperately want to shove him away, but I can't seem to do that.
His facial expression shows hurt, pain, yet lust.
"Lauren, I need you," He says with a raspy voice.
"No you don't. We're still young. Let's live our lives without each other. I mean we can still be together for the sake of Lia but-"
He cuts me off, yet again.
"No, you don't understand,"
I just look down.
I don't know what to say.
His hand slowly slide to my small hands. He grasps my hands hard and holds on tight.
