Enjoy, sweets:) Y'all deserve a LONG chap
"Lauren, I can't believe your really leaving!" My co-worker, Anne, says.
I've known her since I got this job 5 years ago, and she's been my closest friend here. "I know, Anne, I know. But I have to...I can't wait to start my new life." I smile and think of Sean.
He is just so handsome, and I know I am truly in love with him. He makes me so happy and Lia is happy , too, so that's an automatic "plus".
"I'm excited for you, babe," Anne told me. This is the exact reason why I love my sweetie Anne so much. Anne is so down to earth and humble. Anne gives me the perfect advice and always knows what to do when trouble comes.
"Girl, do you know I dream of this man almost every night!" I put my hand over my heart and batted my eyelashes. Anne giggles and says "You're really in love, and I can tell. So, been thinking about kids?"
I think?
"Maybe! I want probably two more kids. That would be a joy." I started to put the last few things from my office into my box.
"It would, girl. And, stop by the break room, so you can pick up the rest of your stuff when your finished," She informed me.
"Break room? I picked up all my stuff from there 2 days ago," I was so confused.
"No I think you need to get some stuff from there, well at least that's what Doc said," Anne shrugged her shoulders, waved, and turned to leave.
I scrunched my face thinking of what possibly I could have left in there. Oh well, I can check later.
As I reach for a Certificate on my desk to put in my box, a picture falls out from behind it. "What's this?" I ask myself.
I turn the little picture over and see a picture of Lia and Mitch. Lia looks about 7 months, and Mitch looks so happy, young, and carefree. His emerald eyes looked soft and loving and I just want to reach into the photo and kiss his youthful cheeks. I sigh and close my eyes for a few second, reminiscing about those old days when things were okay.
Wait-it's not like I want that life back, right? I don't need him anymore. I have Lia and Sean to complete my life. Not him.
That's the past, and the past should be the past.
Get over it, Lauren.
I put the picture and the Certificate into the box and start to clean up a bit. Wow, I am really going to miss this hospital so much.
All the memories here will never be forgotten, from after college, my marriage, baby, divorce, engagement, and resignation, this place and my co-workers has been there for me every step of the way.
I will have to get used to being a stay-at-home mom in Albany, which will be weird for me, since I'm an independent woman, who has a passion for working.
I picked up my box and headed to the break room, where apparently, I forgot some things.
I slowly open the door and it's pitch dark. "What the heck?" I mutter. As I turn on the lights, everybody from the emergency department jumps up and says "SURPRISE!"
"Oh my God! Guys!" I can't help but tear up at all the effort of my co-workers. The usually dull break room is now bright colored and lively. "Happy Going Away Party, but hopefully you will come back to visit!" My Boss, Dr. Johnson, says.
"Dr. Johnson, thank you this is beautiful!" I smile and wipe a tear that managed to roll down my face. I hug everybody and thank them for all they've done.
IN THE CAR, DESTINATION: ALBANY, NY
"Are we there yet!" Lia yelled.
"Lia, for the last time, no!" I said sternly. She can be so cute, but sometimes she irritates me. Really bad.
"But Mommy, I wanna go home!" She starts to cry and throw fit. She's only doing this for attention from Sean and I know that. He lets her get what ever she wants, even more than her own father.
"Cut it out, now! I don't wanna hear a word from you until we stop, understand?" I turn behind me and see her beautiful face. No tears, no nothing.
"Behave yourself," I tell her.
"I'm sorry, Sean. She just wants your attention. She does this in front of my friends and family.
"It's fine, baby. Lia is a little cutie." He replies glancing at me, then back to the highway.
I smile and keep looking at him. I'm really starting to wish he was Lia's father. I know it sounds bad, but I just wish I met him in college and not Mitch.
If I knew we were to divorce and had to drag a kid through it, I would have never even said "Hi" to him.
After about 20 minutes of driving, we decided to stop a McDonald's and grab some food real quick. I got a chicken sandwich, Sean got a Big Mac, and Lia got a Happy Meal.
"Lia, what do you say?" I ask her.
"Say what?" She asks.
"You say this when someone gives you something," I tell her.
"Ohh!" She starts to giggle uncontrollably.
"Thank you Mr. Sean!" My eyes went wide.
She has never called him Mr. Sean before, and to be honest I don't want her to call him that.
"Um, Lia. You can just call him Sean, okay? He's going to be a nice friend that will stay with us and love us. But guess what?"
"What?"
"Sean is going to be a second daddy, kind of. Do you understand?"
"I dunno...I'm tired," I sighed. Maybe we can try again later on in her life, maybe she's a bit too young. Sean looks over at me and gives me a smirk. "Nice try" he mouths.
I roll my eyes. Sean is such a clown.

Mitch POV:
"Dude, you need to relax! Get over her! She's obviously gotten over you, you need to get it together, man," Blake tells me.
"I am over her! I'm just upset she has Lia. I don't even know who this kid is! She has a freaking boyfriend! What if Lia starts to call him 'daddy'?!" I was freaking out for a good reason, at least.
"You need to get back on the market, dude. Single for a year? Come on! You're a young guy!" I stare at Skip Bayless, ranting about some rookie QB's game on Sunday, on ESPN.
"You know what, you're right."
"I'm always right, Mitch. Always,"
I roll my eyes and drink the last sip of my beer.
"Now, lets go to that new club, Nexxus, and meet some chicks,"
Now that was an offer I just couldn't resist.
I WILL BE WRITING MORE TOMORROW:) ITS KIND OF A FILLER CHAPTER, NOT THAT GOOD:/ NEXT CHAPTER SHOULD BE GOOD. DRAMA WILL BE HEATING UP IN A FEW CHAPS:)
