The Promise

Tara's dad, Kishore returned from his office as entered the home gate.

he called for tara" puppy... puppy ma... appa vanthuta. yenga iruka(puppy... puppy dear.... dad had came... where are you)"

" dho dho dho... vanthuta"( here here here I came)said tara as she came out running ... tara took the helmet from Kishore head and Kishore hand over tara's favorite channa masala. ( It's an Indian dish ).

Closed the gate Once he parks his Scotty in the parking area which is quite enough to park one car and one bike, they both entered into the home...

" varubothey puppy puppy puppy ... avaluku kalyanam aadichina yenna pannuviga (while entering itself puppy puppy... what will we do once she get married..? )" asked kuzhali coming from the kitchen with a spatula in her hand.

" marriage... are serious kuzhali.. who will get married at this young age.. and one more thing my daughter is going nowhere," said Kishore and tara smiley face felt down by thinking about Mumbai training.

"Appa... tha" tara was cut off by Karthik " tara... your friend is on the line" Karthik eye signals her not start the conversation out that now. Tara understands as went inside to received the call, her friend's Monisha was on the line.

Monisha and Tara are friends from kindergarten. Monisha just like tara but an independent girl who can act boldly according to the situation.

Karthik and Monisha had a crush on each other. Monisha is talkative exactly like tara but when it comes to in front of Karthik, she's totally become shy and her words dead in the throat itself. Karthik is well aware that he had an effort on her. Whenever Monisha comes to Karthik home to meet tara.. her eyes automatically search for Karthik.

Some time there both have eye contact and speak with the eye(the only god knows what they speaking). Tara caught red-handed Monisha and Karthik when they had eye contact along with a small shy smile on both their lips. And she got some idea about their relationship and felt happy for them.she eagerly waiting for their official relationship announcement, also don't want to spoil what they have in between them.

when she asked Monisha, she spills the beam and admits her feeling of her brother.but Karthik escape wherever she asks about that.

" hi moni... "she cut off by Monisha screaming... tara jerk her phone from ear to prevent her drum from Monisha screaming . 'why no one letting me to speak today. ', she thought... " Tara I got the appointment order" Monisha again screamed, jumping on her bed ." okay ..okay... I too got it for that no need to damage my ear, idiot" She fake scold her friend with a broad grin "umm... Karthik said you also got it" Monisha said in a low voice while mentioned about Karthik but she is not in the mood to tease Monisha.

" yes pa... but i don't think i could make it.. dad won't allow me to go for Mumbai training," she said in a sad tone as Monisha excitement gone the way its comes.. " why .. can I speak to uncle maybe he can allow you because you and my training locations are same," she said.

"no need... alright, anna (brother) said that he will convince dad to let me go to that training.."tara sigh , unsurely...

While Tara was busy on phone . Karthik went to Kishore who sat on couch with closed his eye and resting his head on headrest.

" dad I wanna talk to you " Karthik said with hesitation.

Kishore sensed something serious as he takes Karthik to the terrace.. " yes Karthik eppo sollupa yenna vizhayam"(now say what is the matter)ask Kishore firmly.

"appa... Tara got an appointment order but the training is in Mumbai" he trail  the sentence and waiting for Kishore's response.

" not only her, but I also want her to go to mumbai and take the training " Karthik getting tenser, seeing his father silence.

He knows that his father will never allow her to go anywhere but he doesn't know the reason.

" no Karthik ... it's not safe for her.

She doesn't know anything or anyone there and I am don't like this idea so it better to drop this conversation here... if paapa(baby) wants to work I will get her a job here itself, there is no need for Mumbai "Kishore said not giving any room for further decision. Karthik never saw his dad scared but today he had a glimpse of a scared and angry expense on Kishore's face.

His father stubbornness make Karthik disappointed.." i can't understand you, dad..why you are not letting her expose the outside world..why you always want to keep her inside .. why you not letting her to realize that she reaches the age to take theDiscussion? " Kishore about to say something but he can't say it to his son ' that he doesn't want to repeat the history' Karthik continued " please don't give me lame excuse by saying ' she is a girl that's why' what you really hiding dad...? You let me stay in the hostel, you let me work in the US, you give me the rights to decide my life, even you know what going between me and Monisha but you never say anything against it... but I can't see this anything in tara case...she bought up like a caged bird...she too has a wing dad, she too can fly. please don't make her believe that she can only walk not to fly.." Karthik says all those things in an angry and loud voice that could be audible to kuzhali who is standing in the stair. She came to say that dinner is ready but she froze by hearing the conversation between father and son.

Because both of them share a good friendship bond beyond the father and son relationship.

Karthik let his frustrated sigh and calm himself and said "I agree dad she carefree and easily gets hurt but she is intelligent she will handle it if not now then never a dad. she will remain like this forever, she will never learn how to handle thing by herself. That's all I can say, dad. Please think about it" Karthik said as he leaves bypassed kuzhali and letting Kishore think about his decision.

Karthik knows that he should've not spoken to his dad like that. but he has to.
