"Jesus it's hot out here," Richie whined as we biked out to the quarry, "can we please take a break?"

"Why did we bring him with us?" I asked looking over to Bill.

Richie acted dramatic and placed a hand over his heart with a gasp, "Stanley! You offend me! Billium my good sir, please control your boyfriend!" he joked in his fake British accent.

"Beep beep Richie!" I warned. Nobody knew that me and Bill were dating, save for the losers club and I intended to keep it that way.

"Fiiine" he groaned and we continued to bike.

We finally reached the quarry and I looked out at the trees and water as we started to undress. I sighed at a breeze of wind and smiled to myself. It was peaceful.

Just then I saw a bird, I hurriedly grabbed my notebook and wrote down my observation. A goldfinch. It was beautiful, and my gaze lingered upon it for a long time until I heard a scream, and then a splash. Richie had jumped into the water breaking it's reflective surface.

I chuckled at his recklessness and shook my head. He was an idiot but he was our idiot.

"Hey St-stan" Bill said, and I turned to look at him, "I... well we've been d-dating for a while a-and I w-wanted to tell you th-th-that, well I love you."

My heart stopped. We had been dating for almost a year now but this was the first time that either of us had said I love you.

"I love you too Bill." I said, grabbing his waist and pulling him in for a kiss. We were so close that our eyelashes brushed against each others skin and we had to separate because it tickled.

"Hey! Are you two lovebirds done? I'm lonely~" Richie yelled from the water, so I grabbed Bills hand and jumped into the water, the cold surface rippling.

And every once and a while I would see a goldfinch flying by my house and it would remind me of the first time Bill said he loves me.
