a.n. lol hi remember this story

-luke.

"we're invited to a party at some sick house in my neighborhood, do you wanna go?" ashton's voice asks through the phone. he's always getting invited to parties like this, considering he's rich, good looking, and popular as hell. it's a wonder how i became his friend.

"sure," i answer. i don't have anything else planned for tonight.

"cool, meet me at my house at 7. maybe you'll get laid tonight," i can hear his smirk over the phone.

"yeah," i say, hanging up. normally i would be up for that, but today, i wasn't feeling it, i guess. there was a weird feeling in my stomach that didn't want me to hook up with a drunk girl tonight.

at 6:30, i get in my car and drive over to ashton's house, a gigantic mansion in the most expensive neighborhood in town. the one thing that ashton and i are on the same level on is our cars, as we both own range rovers.

"the party is down there, at calum's," he points down the street where the blaring music and plethora of cars are.

"calum's party? as in, calum hood?" i ask, a little shocked.

"yeah, don't worry, he's totally cool with you coming," ashtons waves me off. i'm going to one of calum hood's legendary parties, ashton should've warned me so i would have known to wear something other than an old ripped band tee and black skinny jeans with holes at the knees.

as we enter the house, the strong stench of alcohol and marijuana fills my senses, making me cough a little. the house is packed, and we have trouble moving to the other side of the room without being bumped and shoved.

"i'm gonna go find ella, text me if you need anything," ashton yells over the music. "go find a girl," and with that, i'm left alone in a crowd of drunk and high people.

i sigh and start to wander around, grabbing a red solo cup and trying to enjoy myself. i look around the room for an attractive girl to approach, but i find none.

"hey, you're luke, right?" a voice yells from next to me. i turn to see calum hood, the most popular kid around, smiling at me with four girls hanging off of him.

"uh, yeah," i say, not sure why calum fucking hood was talking to me. he must be drunk.

"cool, nice to meet you man. ashton has said some good things about you," ashton has talked to calum about me?

"oh," i shift uncomfortably. "nice to meet you,"

"you too," he flashes an award winning smile. "we should chill sometime. that'd be epic," i nod with a small smile, giving him my phone to put his number in. he leaves and the girls follow him.

i watch him walk off into a huge group of people, everybody trying to talk to him at once. he's literally at the top of the food chain and i'm at the bottom.

i tear my gaze away from the dance floor and my eyes land on a brunette walking in with a tall boy with green hair. he bends down to whisper something in her ear, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek and a hug before rushing off into the dance floor. she turns around and i almost pass out.

it's cassidy, that girl i literally ran into at target.

she bites her lip and surveys the room, before heading in the direction of the drinks. my heart is beating out of my chest as i make my way over to her.

"fancy running into you again," i joke, mentally slapping myself. really, luke? 'fancy running into you again?' as if the pun wasn't lame enough.

cassidy i prefer cass looks up and raises her eyebrows, looking me up and down.

"oh, you're the kid from target," she says, grabbing a red solo and drinking half its contents in one gulp. she's wearing a green day shirt now, with shorts and black converse.

"yeah, long time no see," i laugh nervously.

"so, you know the kid that lives here?" she asks, looking around as if she was bored.

"no, my friend knows him though," i say. suddenly, the guy with the green hair she was with earlier approaches us, grabbing the cup from cassidy's hands and finishing it off. she doesn't seem to mind.

"who's this punk?" the guy gestures to me. i notice his style, a metallica muscle shirt and ripped skinny jeans, and i know immediately we could become fast friends.

"this is luke, he ran into me at target." cassidy shrugs. "luke, this is my idiot of a best friend michael," i let out a breath i didn't know i was holding, i guess i can breathe knowing he's not her boyfriend now.

we shake hands and he asks me about my nirvana shirt, which ends up being an entire conversation all about bands. cassidy pitches in once in a while, agreeing or disagreeing with whatever we had to say. by the end of the night, i had michael's number, and i felt comfortable around him, which doesn't usually happen that fast.

"hit me up sometime, we should go to the mayday parade concert together," michael says as we leave the house. we all exchange goodbyes and they climb into their car, speeding away.

i find myself smiling like an idiot after they leave, mainly because i has run into cassidy again, but also because i had made a new friend.
