3rd POV
Earth-16

Once they had all finally arrived at the girls' location both teams stared in shocked horror at their condition. Zatanna was layed out on her back covered in scratches and what appeared to be burn marks almost, while Raven layed unconscious, barely breathing, she looked unharmed but it was clear that her condition wasn't a natural occurrence. Her head lolled out from under her hood as Damian raced over to try and help her.
"Let's get them back to The Cave, we need to find out what happened to them, M'gann call the bioship then try and see if you can get into their minds and figure it out." Robin ordered going over to help Zatanna. The Martian nodded and closed her eyes before she placed both hands on either side of Raven's head, promptly falling unconscious. Superboy swore and rushed forward to catch her falling body. They all frowned for a moment, trying to think of a way back to the cave without the bioship which was now out of comission without M'gann. Luckily she woke up slowly and they managed to contact Aqualad. There was some anxiety and deliberation about abandoning the mission but it was still all but unanimous that their teammates' health came first. Once the incapacitated girls had been moved to the medical bay everyone seemed to relax. Damian, who still hadn't left his girlfriend's side, sat grasping one of Raven's hands in his all but praying for some sort of recovery.

Raven POV
I forced myself up into a sitting position, wiping blood off of my mouth. Even though I knew I was in my mind I was still taking clear damage. I stood up shakily as a cruel laugh echoed throughout the black void around me.
"You know the whole 'laugh ringing out of the darkness' things already taken done, right?" I called my breath coming out in quick, blood  flecked spurts.
"Oh I'm sorry dear, did you think I cared? I'm not doing it for effect if that's what you mean, I just can't stop thinking how amusing it is that you still think you have a chance!" A deep, feminine voice drawled as a ray of red trimmed chaos scorched out of the surrounding darkness and slammed into me before I could put up a shield. I gasped as I felt the breath being knocked out of my lungs as I was thrown across the void. I blearily glanced up from underneath my hooded eyelids as a blurry, red skinned figure emerged from the surrounding darkness. She approached me and gently, almost lovingly even, lifted my head and looked down into my eyes.
"You know, I honestly believe that you could have stopped me at one point, unfortunately it seems that your dearest beloved is providing me with all the pride that I've needed to overcome your strength." She said smiling sweetly. I groaned and once again forced myself rise. She giggled blithely and shot another ray at me with her index finger, luckily this time I was able to raise a weak shield.
"Stay.....away from him." I spat pausing as it became harder to breathe. She pouted and asked, "Oh? But why should I do that? After all a demon's gotta eat and well.... mm... his pride is exquisite. It's like his arrogance has no limits! Who would have thought that after all that time snatching quick bites here and there from villains you caught all I needed to do to get a decent meal was have you kiss a Wayne! Wait... now that I say it it makes total sense, haha!" She laughed a grin covering her face.
"So...heh.... you're the reason all the villains I end up against personally end up comatose, huh? I guess it's good to put a face to the voice. But what I don't get is why you're trying so hard to take me over, I'd have thought since you were my demonic half it would be easier for you to break loose, like you did against Psimon." I said a confused smile playing on my lips. She rolled her eyes and simply waved off the comment dismissively saying, "I don't suppose you'd understand my motives dear, after all you still believe that I'm a part of you." I froze at this my eyes widening. What's that supposed to mean I thought, staring at the red skinned figure before me. She smiled and asked, "Confused dear? Well let me give you a little hint, I showed up the first time you accessed father's true power." I paused trying to think. I only started hearing her voice after the fight with-
"Blood!" I exclaimed jolting back, my eyes widening in shock and horror.
"That's right darling, when you used those powers to strip that man of his throne and power I used the opportunity to slip into your mind. I'd been waiting patiently until I was either strong enough to overpower you or until you gave into the darkness but then that idiot Psimon went and drew me out before my time and I was forced to improvise, nudging you into certain courses of action, especially where this earth and Klarion were involved. I just had to get you to come here. It was much easier than I expected, all it took was some minor possession and I could do whatever I wanted! Even fight that annoying new friend of yours!" She explained an easy smile covering her face. I stared at her in shock when a comforting thought occurred to me.
"Well, if you're just a demon whose been renting my mind I think it's about time to evict you, after all this is my mind." I said smiling as my hands began to glow with the familiar black and purple. My smile however lessened when she laughed, following my lead and raising both of her hands.
"It's quite disappointing really dear, I thought you might have figured it out by now: this may well be your mind, but it's my earth, I'm afraid that I have homecourt advantage!" She cried gleefully as she hit me with a full force attack. It blew through my shield like it was nothing and I barely managed to shoot forward an attack of my own. The two combined and I cried, "Mother of Azarath give me strength!"
