phoenix was not happy. not only did paul immediately try to attack embry, he also had some choice-y words about the other boy. so the two were currently sitting in front of phoenix, being scolded like little boys.

"of all the stupid things you have done paul lahote, this quite possibly one of the stupidest! you don't just attack your wolf-brother because of something he can't control! if he doesn't get a full apology by tomorrow at the latest, i will be forced to take drastic measures!"

embry snickered and phoenix turned to him, "oh don't you go thinking you're in the clear, embry call! you started this whole thing by taunting the most easily aggravated member in the whole pack! you brought that onto yourself! now both of you are going to sit there and think about what you did while i go help emily bake cupcakes and you can't have one until you have both apologized to each other!"

emily leaned into sam uley, an amused smile dancing on her lips. sam pressed a quick kiss to her head, "you think we should stop her?"

"no, she's doing exactly the same thing i would've done if something like this happened to me." emily giggled as sam twirled her around, peppering kisses all over her face.

after a few more minutes, phoenix skipped over to the couple and hugged emily, pulling her away from sam. emily was like a sister to the teenager, someone she could about anything with and go to for help.

"can we make the vanilla cupcakes with blue frosting this time, emmy?" phoenix was acting like a child now, her playful side coming to light.

"of course. do you want to color the batter too?" when phoenix was in these moods, due to her supernatural side, the only way to effectively deal with her was to treat her as if she was a child. it was a continuous cycle.

"yeah! can we do the purple dye?"

"sure. why don't you go get the cupcake pans and the powder ingredients out?"

phoenix skipped over to the cabinet that held all the baking supplies. she brought out flour, sugar, and baking soda. the girl looked around quickly before scooping out a spoonful of sugar and sticking it in her mouth quickly.

paul watched with a soft smile while embry stared at her curiously. "why is she like that now?"

paul turned to his fellow wolf, "she's special. she apparently was bonded to an actual phoenix upon birth, and yes, they do exist," he said quickly as embry had opened his mouth, "it's kinda like her familiar. but every three months or so, she gets like this and it takes two to three days for her to completely lose the childishness. billy thinks her personality is following the phoenix's life cycle."

"wait, so where's the phoenix?"

"we're assuming somewhere in the andes mountain range because she has a complete fascination with them to the point where it could be considered an obsession."

embry absorbed the information, "so why was she the one who was bonded to the phoenix and how does she know she was?"

"she's the only one who knows how and why. every time someone asks, even me, she'll just laugh it off and change the subject."

phoenix turned to look at the boys, "are you gonna apologize to each other? because i really really don't like it when you two fight. it makes me sad."

she skipped over and hugged paul and then embry, "can we make a snowman? like elsa and  anna? ooh, ooh, can we find an olaf? i want an olaf!"

paul kissed her forehead, "why don't you make the cupcakes with emily first? you can decorate them with sprinkles and blue frosting and then we'll go look for an olaf. does that sound good, little bird?"

"yeah!" phoenix skipped away again, paul glancing at embry.

"you basically have to treat her like a little kid or she'll ignore you."

embry nodded, "are we really going to look for a weird talking snowman? it's not even snowing."

paul shrugged, "if it makes her happy, we do it. that's how i managed not to chase her away with my quick temper for the past eight years."

phoenix looked at her boys for a quick second, "you guys said sorry to each other, right?"

the two boys said a quick, slightly meaningless sorry to each other and phoenix smiled radiantly, "can we go find olaf now?"

"let's go find a talking snowman," embry smiled.

her happy face made everything worth it.

so there's that. also, you're so close to finding out what she is. i promise it'll blow your mind. thank you guys for reading!
