I was exhausted. My body still trembled from the god’s presence — Creation’s power had poured through me like sunlight through glass, and even I, warrior of Tamaran, was unprepared for the weight of divinity. When the golden light left me, I collapsed into darkness.
And then I was somewhere else. Damian stood with Jason, Neopolitan, and Bart — an unlikely family, forged in battle, stitched together by stubbornness and scars.
Neo’s pastel hair glinted in the strange light, Bart vibrated with restless energy, Jason’s scowl softened only when he glanced toward Damian — and Damian, of course, stood with arms crossed and jaw set, the very image of the stoic prince he pretends not to be.
I wanted to laugh, to cry, to tell them they looked… happy. As happy as warriors are allowed to be.
“Timbo said Kori got possessed by a god,” Jason muttered, ruffling his hair. “And that we gotta get moving.”
Neo signed fast, sharp. Jason translated instantly.
“Good. You can still hack the White Fang systems?” She nodded, smirk sly and confident.
“That’s so crash!” Bart exclaimed, practically glowing. “And I don’t even need a secret identity?!”
Jason rolled his eyes. “We use codenames ‘cause we’re used to it, kid. But yeah — no tights required.”
“Preparations are complete,” Damian said simply, katana gleaming. Two shimmering portals pulsed behind him — one for Neo’s infiltration, one for Bart’s aid to the Faunus.
“Wait! Little D! Little Wing!”
The voice cut through the calm like a blade.
Richard Grayson.
He stepped into view, mask glinting. The air thickened. Jason’s fists clenched white. Damian’s knuckles tightened around his sword hilt. Bart froze, eyes darting between them like a trapped bird. Neo tilted her head, curious but silent.
“What do you want, douche?” Jason growled.
“You barely got here!” Dick shot back. “I wanted to spend time with you!”
“Bad news — we don’t have the luxury of time, Grayson,” Damian said coldly.
“You’ve been distant,” Dick insisted. “Running off, bringing new allies, not bringing Tim or Kori—”
“Stop right there.” Jason’s voice cracked, heat rising. “You know why we don’t bring Kori. You hurt her. You DICK.”
“Jason—”
“No!” Jason’s hands trembled. “You don’t get to apologize to me.”
“Dami—”
“I am not your messenger,” Damian cut him off, voice low and razor-sharp.
“But we were a dynamic duo—”
“Emphasis on were.” Damian opened the portal with a single slash of his sword. “You are not Batman anymore. I am not your Robin. And I do not trust those who hurt my allies.”
No farewell. No last glance. They vanished through the portal. Silence followed.
And then — I woke.
Jaune’s hands shook me gently. The world of Remnant came rushing back.
Only a day had passed here. The exhaustion hung heavy, thicker than battle smoke. Yang and Blake whispered in the corner, foreheads pressed together, violet eyes finally soft. Ruby and Weiss sat near the window, their quiet murmur full of tentative trust. Ren listened patiently as Nora giggled at something only they understood. Jaune and Tim pored over the map yet again, strategizing until their voices went hoarse.
