We were all still shaken from what had happened in the last mission. The fight, the escape, the way emotions had been ripped open and left raw-it still lingered in the hallways of the HQ. Damian had been practically glued to my side since the incident with Richard. Apparently, the others had all agreed on some sort of "Kori-buddy system," which meant I was always in company.

Yang had been the one chosen to shadow me that day. She'd parked herself next to me on the lounge sofa, casually drinking a canned beverage called a "Doctor of Peppers." She swore by it like it was nectar of the gods. I didn't get the appeal-it tickled my tongue and made my teeth hurt.

My scroll vibrated. I glanced down and, oh, I smiled immediately. The incoming call read Oscar.

I accepted the video call, propping the scroll up so Yang could see too. The boy on-screen smiled softly, but-oh! His eyes...

"Ozpin," I muttered, and Yang froze mid-sip. She set the can down so fast it almost toppled.

"The bastard speaks," Yang hissed.

"Yang, please," I whispered, swatting at her shoulder.

"What? You know it's true," she muttered, leaning closer to the screen.

Ozpin chuckled in that infuriating, patient way he always did. "Well, our dear Oscar is in a predicament."

My stomach dropped. "Is he-Is he okay!?"

Yang slammed a fist into the couch. "Ozhole, if he's hurt because YOU took control, I will find a way to hurt you!"

"Oh, no, nothing bad has occurred," Ozpin said smoothly, adjusting his glasses. "Oscar merely has... a crush."

My eyes lit up instantly. "Oh really!?"

Yang cackled. "We knew it. He's all about Ruby."

Suddenly, the glow around his eyes flickered-and Oscar's face went crimson. "No! I don't have a crush on Thor!" he yelled. His voice cracked adorably. He looked like a tomato.

Yang nearly fell off the couch laughing. "Thor!? Dude, that ain't Ruby's name!"

"Thor?" I blinked in confusion. "I did not know there was an Asgardian in Remnant."

"No, no-long story," Yang wheezed, wiping tears from her eyes.

I smiled at Oscar softly. "Oh, my little brother... love is a prize! A wonderful gift! Do not deny its existence, or you will forever regret it!"

"I like Ruby!" Oscar blurted.

"Dude," Yang teased, "You sure? 'Cause you're redder than my sister's cape right now."

"Pine." Damian's calm voice cut through the chaos, making us both jump. He'd appeared behind the couch silently. Typical Damian.

"Robin!" Oscar nearly cheered in relief.

"What is going on, Xiao Long?" Damian asked flatly.

Yang grinned. "Lil Oscar's got a cruuuushhh on Thor."

"I see." Damian's eyebrow barely twitched.

"I DON'T!" Oscar yelled, storming off-screen.

Damian's expression didn't change, but I heard his thought in my head: Ridiculous.

Still, the faintest pink dusted his cheeks.

"Damian, your face is red," I teased mentally.

He scowled. "Focus."

And that was when another presence appeared on screen-a familiar pale face, mismatched eyes twinkling with mischief. Neopolitan. Her derby hat tilted as she waved, signing swiftly with her hands.
