A ball, of some sorts. Men gliding through huge iron doors as they met their awaiting partners. classical music playing throughout the entire palace, enticing every person that heard it to dance. I was awaiting for the Kings arrival, standing next to his golden seat, spear in my hand. And next to me was him, the one who I once called friend. We were both kings guards, talented in combat, the best fighters around. I looked over at him, he was fidgety, as if he was nervous, waiting for something to happen. I noticed this, watching as his fingers tightened around his spear and as he re-sorted his coat. Something wasn't right. He suddenly started moving, walking through a crowd of dancers to the main door. without hesitation I followed, "hey! hey, where are you going?"I called after him, he carried on walking as if my voice had not existed. Countless people pointed their noses up at me as I ran after him, some laughing. By the time I had caught up with him I was standing at the top of the palace steps, him at the bottom, his arms around the King. this puzzled me, why would he be embracing his boss? In fact he sometimes said how much he despised the king. However my question was soon answered as I watched him step away, the Kings body dropping to the ground. his knife was covered in blood, the Kings blood. "Alexander!" I called, he looked up at me, smirked and then ran off. I couldn't make sense of anything, my ears had popped and my eyes were spinning. I awkwardly ran down the steps towards the pool of blood, picking the king up in my arms. his face was pale, pale as a ghost. his eyes bloodshot with fear. I couldn't breath, I felt sick. But that's when it happened, "Father!" "Father" the boy cried as he ran down the steps to the lifeless body in my arms.

I awoke, breathing heavily, an ocean of sweat on my body. these memories, they were telling me something, telling me why I was alive. I shook my head to wipe the thought from my brain, got up and got dressed. "Clara?" I called through the house, checking every room, not finding her. Maybe she's at the market I thought to myself, Yer that would make sense. I got up and left the house, the fresh air hitting my face. there was slight rain and the sky wasn't as blue as the day before, upsetting me slightly. however I pushed on through the town towards the market. I was greeted there by people surprised at my appearance change from a half zombified man to a fully human one. I was a handsome man, I knew that. But for once I wasn't looking back at the woman, I just wanted to find Clara. I eventually saw her, she was talking to one of the market keepers discussing something that made her smile. I watched her, admiring her beauty, the way she smiled. but something else quickly caught my attention, a man striding towards her with a serious look on his face. I watched as their gap got smaller, deciding I had to do something. the man reached into his pocket and took out a sharp blade, gripping it in his hands. at this sight i grabbed a knife from the stall beside me. holding it loosely by the tip of the blade. I swung my arm forwards releasing the blade as I did so, sending it spiraling towards the man at an extraordinary speed. by this time the man was only a meter away from Clara, his knife ready to strike its victim. however he was stopped in his path as my blade penetrated his collar bone, causing him to slip into the stall beside him, taking the whole thing with him.

There were sudden gasps and screams as people saw what happened, all looking back at me. I stood there panting, looking straight towards the mess I caused, ignoring the eyes around me. Clara looked down at the body and then over at me, she ran over and embraced me in a hug. "you saved me" she said " you saved my life", I was shocked by the situation and by the hug I had just received "why was he trying to hurt you?" I asked panicked. She an obvious look of awkwardness on her face "Well, you just saved the Kings daughter" she said looking down and rubbing her neck.
