By the time they returned with her meds, Alex was sweating, as pale as snow, and her lips and ears and fingers were going blue. She lay curled up in her bed as Cat replaced the cloth multiple times. She took the pills immediately, gulping down the water and the colour began to return to her face.
Once she had stopped shivering, she followed Edward out of the room and down the corridor. "I'm so sorry I have been so uninvolved in your life so I was unaware of your condition, please forgive me. I do wish we could have been closer but your brother was so insistent on keeping you away from me." Alex stopped, glaring at him with an ice-cold stare. "Don't you dare blame this on Aaron, you can't even respect your dead son, whose death, by the way, was entirely your fault. Just because you took no interest in my life other than how I can help with the Willow Tree, or take it apart. Don't pretend otherwise, and don't even speak about Aaron," she said, and then walked on, with Edward quickening his pace to catch up. "I really am sorry for my lack of interest in your life up until now, but I really would like to get to know you."
Alex scoffed, then looked at him and her smile dropped. "You're serious? You literally just kidnapped me and mum and your holding us hostage at an illegal human experimentation facility, and you want to get to know me? What? Have a cup of tea and biscuits while you cut me open and fill me up with your serums and your medications. No way. You really need to work on your people skills." Edward stayed silent and just led her through the corridors of the facility, passing many red-clad cult members along the way. He led her to a small room with a flat white table covered in white metal clasps in the centre. She lay on it as instructed and one of the nurse-like people closed the clasps around her wrists and ankles. He took a long black bar from the trolley beside it and held it a few inches over her body, hovering it over her arms, legs and head, he only stopped when a piece of white appeared on his scanner over her left arm.
He frowned and brought the bar over to the wall where he slotted in and a screen appeared beside it, showing a small white dot in a large black shadow. He pressed a couple of buttons and his frown deepened. "Um, Mr Frobisher, there seems to be a small metal object in her forearm that is transmitting a signal using our network to just about everywhere. I've never seen anything like it. Anyone with the access code to that network can find her exact position."
Edward gasped and ran to the screen to check what he was hearing. "You live in the Mornesse!" he said aghast, while the nurse simply took a scalpel and began rolling up her sleeve. "Why do you have a tracker in your arm?" he continued, still dumbfounded. Alex chuckled slightly.
"I don't just live in the Mornesse, I run the Mornesse. You've basically bought up everyone in the entire city of Byiron and you never knew your daughter ran the Mornesse. My father runs a cult that recruits people to use for his experiments, Of course, I have a way to be located by my friends if I stop checking in every eight hours because of you. I'm a lot more intelligent than you give me credit for. " the nurse came toward her with the scalpel." Can I do it? I have a thing about other people and knives. " she asked and the nurse just shrugged, released the clasps around her wrists and handed her the scalpel. She winced as she cut deep into her flesh with blade and pulled the minuscule tracker from her arm.
Edward just stared dumbfounded at her as she stitched herself up. She lay back down when she was done and the nurse clicked back on the clasps, placing a white bandage over her stitches. Edward had pulled out his phone and dialled in a number, speaking quietly to the person on the other side. She overheard one sentence. "Take care of the leaders, by any means necessary." She chuckled, his men wouldn't get within 100 feet of the place before they were discovered.
Edward left after leaving the nurse some instructions, shutting the door behind him and leaving her alone with the nurse. The man didn't speak just simply proceeded with injecting her with all manner of things and then taking her blood. He eventually released the clasps, placed a new set of red clothes beside her and left the room. She changed quickly, leaving her old clothes sitting in a neat pile on the table and knocked on the door, the guards opened it and escorted her back to her room, leaving her back in with the rest of the group when they shut the door.
