After about three months in the room, they were getting worried about Arlo. Presumably, his plan involved Alex actually being there when they staged the breakout and it didn't seem like she would be any time soon. They both sat and talked on Eddie's bed that night, and, like they had done many times in the past, they fell asleep side by side still sitting against the wall.

Alex awoke to a start the next morning when the door opened and Eliza walked through with Edward Frobisher at her side, deep in discussion. Alex shook Eddie awake but when she went to get out of the bed, she realised a glass screen now separated them from the rest of the room. She started banging on it, and as Eddie awoke, he began to push against it as well. That was when Alex saw Cat enter the room. "Cat!" She called. Frantic at the odd turn of events. "Alex?" she said with confusion. She immediately started toward them when she saw the bed, but the nurses just grabbed her and held her in an iron grip.

"Eddie! Alex!" she called to no avail, struggling to break free from the grip, her legs kicking everything around.

"Now, now Catalina, play nice. We wouldn't want to have Dr Andrews here have to restrain you would we?" Edward said to her in an oddly demeaning tone. Eliza began to pull a syringe from her coat pocket when Cat stopped struggling, though she still tried the odd yank to try and free herself but the nurses held her with ease and quickly lifted her onto the table and began to close the clasps around her. As Cat struggled to break free from the new bonds, two more nurses led someone else in.

It was Arlo, but he looked odd like he was worried, like he was anxious for something to happen, or in some sort of a daze. He didn't even notice Alex calling his name as he was led to the table. This wasn't right. Arlo was never supposed to be in danger. They were supposed to be out of there by now. But instead, they were gonna do who knows what to him for trying to come and save her. "What are they doing?" Alex asked Eddie desperately.

"I've no idea, other than you and the staff, no one has ever come in here."

They stared at the nurses as they shut the clasps around Arlo, looking for some clue as to what was happening. There didn't seem to be one until Eliza and Edward Frobisher started talking.

"I really don't think this is a good idea, this serum's batch isn't that consistent and we could potentially be killing off some of our most promising candidates if this goes wrong. We've never done an enhancement of more than three people in a day and now you want to do one of six people at the same time with a live stream from the D's and E's?"

"Stop worrying Eliza. I promise you that by the end of today, we will have successfully created the first enhanced person in the world. I created this serum formula myself, and I just know it will work. We may lose a few along the way, but it will be worth it for what we will achieve."

"Whatever you say, boss," she said exasperatedly.

Eddie's face paled. "Oh my God. They're going to attempt the process on them. And some other people too, but they are going to be creating the serum directly from us as they do so. This is bad Alex, like really bad. They also now have some E's apparently, which is literally the worst possible thing for them to have. I'm freaking out. No-one has ever completed the process. They either die or some are lucky to survive but often they are crippled or in constant pain or something worse. They are doing this on Cat, Alex. I can't just sit here and watch her die."

"But what can we do?" Alex said to him, giving up on getting through the glass and leaning back against the wall with Eddie. "We're trapped in the wall and they are outside it surrounded by nurses and my godforsaken dad. It's all we can do to hope they survive. Arlo is out there. He was never even meant to be here this long. By the way, what's an E?"
