I ran as fast I could once I was outside, I was running towards the place we saw Katie. As I move, my blurry vision could still see Katie's dark hair and ivory complexion.
"Hey, wait up!" Jacob shouted.
"Some of us are wearing Prada on their feet, you know!" Sydney added. I looked back at them, they were all still running, but Brandon was crawling, I ignored their yampers and continued running to Katie, as I look to her, she was gone, I stopped.
I breathe heavily, I crouched and placed my hands on my angled knees. I also heard some breathes of air behind me, it must've been them. I turned around and saw all of them, completely tired and trying to catch their breathe.
"She's gone." I said, shaking my head in grief. I was that close to see her again. Then suddenly I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, I reached for it and brought it out, I unlocked it to see a new message from an unknown number.
From: X-XXX-XXX-XXX
SHE'S MINE. GET LOST.
- 602
"The hell is this?" Sydney asked.
"Who's 602?" Brandon asked.
"It's probably spam," Violet assured.
"Or Darren Winchester again." Tiana added, whilst rolling her eyes. Darren Winchester is the school's resident funny guy and prankster, everybody's a recipient to his random text pranks and some have probably suffered a minor heart attack due to some shocking messages. Hey, I'd even shudder if he texted me that my mom died.
"God, I hate that mothertrucker." Brandon commented. We all agreed and nodded. Then suddenly, we heard a ringtone from one of our phones. Logan looked at his and placed it on his ear, it was his.
"Hello?" He greeted with a stutter. He directly gave it to me and I took it, placing it on my ear.
"Hello, who's this?" I ask.
"Did you get my text?" A male voice asked.
"Yeah... I guess?"
"What do you mean 'I guess', SHE'S MINE" He exclaimed, "Back off."
"I think this is just a wrong number, sorry."
"You think you can find your precious little Katie, Maddox?" He asked menacingly, "Face it, she's mine and she's never coming back to Ellington High."
"I can track your number and I can call the poli-"
"I can also track you down and I can omit everything you hold dear, even precious Katie herself."
"Give me that." Sydney demanded, I shook my head, but she immediately snatched the phone away from me. She put it on speaker so everyone can hear.
"Okay, quit it, Winchester." She said.
"And whose angelic voice is this, Sydney Hudson?"
"The one and only," She exclaimed, "We all know it's you, Darren, quit it."
"What are you talking about?" He asked, "Darren would never do that to an angel like you, Sydney."
"You should scratch that 'angel' part." Jacob mumbled and Sydney kneed him on the stomache, he groaned in pain and held the affected area and laid on the ground.
"Just admit it," She continued, "After all, you're always the one with multiple numbers."
"Haven't you heard? Darren got grounded and all his phones, poof."
