"YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS, YOU KNOW." I told Wanda quietly, my eyes closed. My expression was hopefully much calmer than I felt in the moment-I was attempting to use the mind-clearing techniques May had taught me. The younger girl had her hands poised to reach into my mind with her powers.

"You do not understand what I can and can't do." She replied fiercely, but I could see the hesitance in her eyes.

"You have no idea, Kid." I sighed before looking between the two twins. "Fine. You wanna read my mind? Let's do it my way."

They seemed slightly surprised by my willingness to let them probe my mind, but I was hoping that my transparency would help the situation at least a little bit. Closing my eyes again, I leaned back against the wall and crossed my legs into crisscross applesauce position. It was time for a joyride down Memory Lane. "Try and keep up."

I combed through my brain for something useful.

    "Hail Hydra, you traitorous psychopath."

"Bucky, it's okay. Tony forgives you. The world forgives you. But none of that matters unless you forgive yourself."

"I'm so, so sorry, Nat. But we'll find a way around it. Family isn't determined by DNA, it's who you love."

It wasn't working, I could feel Wanda mentally poking at my brain. They needed to see Tony, as the human being he is and not what the propaganda fed them on a silver platter.

"Tony, hey, it's okay." I stepped out of the copilots seat and approached his seat in the back of the Quinjet.

His eyes flew open and I was momentarily concerned that he was going to unintentionally summon a suit.

"Sorry, kiddo." He laughed weakly. "Night terrors I guess."

"It was just a dream, okay?" I crouched so I was eye level with him. "Everything will be fine."

He ran a hand over his face and mumbled something under his breath.

          "Sorry, what?"

"It wasn't a dream." He repeated, intelligibly this time.

           "What-"
