I stepped out of the change rooms and grinned, but it faded when I saw all the girls crowding around Calix. They were laughing, flirting, yet he didn’t do a thing to swat them away, so I turned, and went back into the change room and sunk to the ground, my head resting on my legs as I sighed in annoyance. How could I not think of this happening? He was a freaking sex God; of course girls were going to crowd him everywhere he went!

I heard footsteps and someone open the curtain, but I sat there, not moving. He knelt down and tapped on my shoulder. I groaned and looked up, surprised that I didn’t have tears in my eyes. But I didn’t come face-to-face with Calix. The boy in front of me was tall, with broad shoulders, and curly brown hair and green eyes that sparkled with mischievous. I instantly liked him; the aura around him was fun loving and kind, not mysterious like Calix.

“Are you okay?” he asked, his bright green eyes sparkling. I suddenly felt nervous around him and started to stutter, I never stutter.

“Y-yeah,” I stuttered and cursed at myself. Why was I stuttering? I shook my head and looked back up at the man in front of me. He smiled, showing off cute dimples and the freckles that scattered across his nose.

“Let’s get you up so you don’t ruin your dress. And I’ll pay for it, just to make you smile,” he chuckled, his fingers going to the corners of my lips and pulling them up, making me smile and giggle like a child.

“There we go!” he cheered, like making me smile was like winning the lottery. He helped me up, and I felt dizzy, but followed him like a lost puppy to the register. Why am I following a total stranger? I asked myself, but shrugged, liking what it would do to Calix. My jaw dropped when I saw the price: $1,500.

“That’ll be $1,500 Mr. Holms,” the sales lady I saw before told the guy. He handed her his credit card and she winked at me, making me blush. “Thank you Mr. Holms, have a nice day!” she smiled as he took my hand and dragged me out of the store.

He pulled me towards the beach and I started to pull away, afraid of what might happen. What was I thinking? My judgment was clouded by jealousy. I ripped my hand out of his grip and laughed nervously as he looked at me, his eye brows furrowed.

“I’m sorry, it’s just…” I trailed off, not knowing what to do. What do you say to the guy who just spent $1,500 on you? I honestly don’t know why he cares and I looked up at him, finding the courage that I stored away when I was fifteen.

“It’s fine, you don’t have to say anything,” the voice behind me said, and I squared my shoulders and turned around to face a steaming Calix. He didn’t look at me and I was glad, because I was sure if I did, I would be dead.

“Ah, Mr. Ashford, nice to see you again,” Mr. Holms said, a smirk tugging at his full lips. I stepped to the side, wishing I had stayed back in the change rooms.

“What are you doing taking her?” Calix growled, hatred burning in his eyes. I nearly flinched back in surprise.

“I just wanted to show her something,” Mr. Holms said, wrapping a strong arm around me. It doesn’t feel right, I thought.

“Let go of her,” Calix seethed, his nostrils flaring. I took a quick look around – no one was watching, they were gracefully minding their own business. I watched as Mr. Holms leaned in and whispered in my ear.

“Isn’t that great, he’s jealous. Didn’t you want that?” he whispered, nibbling on my ear lobe. I shivered in distaste and wanted to pull away, but I didn’t; I wanted to prove I was independent, what’s better than this?

“No,” I murmured in defeat.

“Now watch as he gets more jealous,” he grumbled as he dug his head into the crook of my neck and started to place butterfly kisses down my shoulder.
