Action's in this Chapter. It's probably one of the last few chapters as sadly, this book is coming to an end.

Ben's POV

There was a loud bang as the building exploded. Debris flew everywhere. I curled into a tight ball and covered my hands over my head.

I waited for a minute.

There were sounds of burning debris and falling pieces of broken buildings.

I opened my eyes, and there was fire and debris everywhere. Joshua, Abby and Jess where nowhere to be seen. I found all the three men working at the machinery dead.

"Erica!" I cried out. "Where are you?"

There was no answer. I pushed some debris out of my way and got up. My right arm was pretty sore, but I didn't care. I pushed aside the debris to where I last saw Erica duck for cover.

"Erica?" I called out. I pulled out more debris and found her, lying across the floor.

"I'm fine, Ben. I just can't get this debris off me," she replied. I helped her to her feet. She swayed a bit, then steadied herself on me.

"Where's Joshua, Jess and Abby?" I wondered aloud, looking around.

Erica cursed under her breath. "Those idiots ran away. Bombed the lab."

I felt the urge to run after them, but I knew there was no use because we didn't know where they went. "How are we going to find them, though?"

"Let's get back to the car," Erica suggested, and together we headed that way.

"You know what?" I said. "I'll have Mike come and get us."

That's when I heard ticking. Beep. Beep. Beep.

"Bomb!" Erica screamed, breaking into a sprint. "Run!"

I quickly realized that as well and started running. Unfortunately, we didn't know exactly where the bomb was, so we were headed in the direction of the bomb.

"The other way!" Erica yelled, changing course as soon as the beeping got louder. I followed her and we ran as far as we could out into the wilderness.

That's when the second bomb went off.

We both turned our heads away and hid behind trees to avoid the explosion.

"Is it over?" Erica asked a minute later. I looked over my shoulder to double check. There was fire, of course, and debris. But there was no sign of any bombs left.

"Yeah, it's over," I confirmed, then we stepped out from our hiding place.

"Whatever in the world just happened?" Erica asked me, dumbfounded. I shook my head. It had all happened so quickly.

"I threw a tracker on Joshua. It stuck to his jacket," Erica said. "Hopefully we can track their locations?"

I breathed a sigh of relief. "That's why I like having Erica Hale on my side during missions."

She smiled, then raced to the parking lot. The car had caught fire as well, so we didn't have a good mode of transport. Erica muttered something under her breath, then pulled her phone out.

"Look!" she said, opening her phone up. "They're on the highway."

"What's the fastest mode of transport-" I began, but Erica got on a motorcycle that had appeared out of nowhere.

"Hurry up!" she hollered across the loud rumbling of the motorbike. I ran up to her and climbed on as well. She revved up the bike and we sped off. It was a little bumpy, but Erica got on the road that led to the highway.

"Have your guns at the ready," Erica said. "Be ready, because we're going to have an old James Bond-style car chase with motorbikes."
I hated James Bond-style car chases.

Mainly because there was a lot of gunfire. I didn't like gunfire, but to Erica this was like going on a rollercoaster. She seemed to be enjoying this. I stayed close and pulled out two handguns.

"There!" I said, pointing to two black motorbikes a couple of yards ahead of us. One of them had Abby and Jess, and Joshua was in the other. Abby was behind Jess, and she was glaring at us angrily. She yelled something, then pulled her gun out and started firing.

There was literally no one else on the highway, much to my surprise. Erica swerved the motorbike to the right, dodging bullets as we nearly collided onto the side. Bullets came our direction, some of them bouncing off our bike and some of them hitting the ground next to us. Erica did an excellent job of dodging the bullets, so we barely had a scratch.

I whipped out my gun and fired back. In response, Jess revved the engine even more and sped off, leaving us in a cloud of dust.

"Get to them!" I shouted to Erica over the loud noise. Erica increased her speed as well and we raced across the highway, me still shooting at Joshua and his team.

One of my bullets finally hit his tire and his motorbike tumbled over. He fell out of it and onto the floor, but he didn't stop firing. One shot hit Erica in the arm.

She winced and let go of the engine. Our bike tumbled over but we both jumped off of it and landed on our feet. Erica clutched her arm, which was now bleeding heavily.

"How far did the bullet go in?" I asked her. She was in too much pain to talk, but she removed her jacket, revealing a large spot with blood oozing out.

Joshua didn't stop firing, though. One shot hit me in the thigh, where blood immediately started to flow out. Nevertheless, I tried shooting back. None of my bullets hit him, though.

That's when I felt a hand position my arm.

Erica held on to my arm tight, then positioned the gun to Joshua.

"Fire," she commanded, so pulled the trigger.

It hit Joshua.

In the chest. He screamed, then died on the spot.

Behind me, Erica asked, "Is he dead?"

I nodded, unable to believe it myself. "Yeah."

"Wow, Ben," Erica gasped. "No way."

"Yeah, Erica," I replied. "I can't believe it."

She smiled. Looking at a dead Joshua made her feel content. Her face was pained and pale due to blood loss but she was smiling. Happy. Satisfied that Joshua was dead.

"Ben!" she exclaimed. "You've been...shot."

"I'm fine," I said, though I wasn't. "Are you?"
She shrugged, then sat down on the road next to me. "I guess I'm okay."

"You," came a voice from the other side, "killed my brother."

Jessica Hallal. I looked over my shoulder and she had two guns aimed at me and Erica. "You killed my brother. Now you will pay!"

The bullet was the last thing I heard. As my vision dazed, I noticed that Erica had shot her first, but then Jess had shot us too.

As for me, I felt a trickle of blood as darkness overcame me.

The Chapter after this will be the last one. Enjoy!
