(Sheri's POV)
When we got to the end of the science wing, we realized that the sharn was heading towards the commons, as sharns usually don't like being around a lot of people and most people would be in class by now.
When Carlos and I found out, we were exhausted and out of breath from running (we had to run from the HEL wing to the science wing then back to the intersection of the wings, and it was only 7:45). He put his arm around me for support on his own body.
"If we...had known...it was...gonna...do that...I wouldn't have bothered getting out of class." Carlos panted. I agreed.
Just as we caught our breath, Carlos grabbed me by the hand and started running as fast as he could, which confused me, but I didn't question it and I ran as well. We ran until we got to a small indent with a couple of doors at the end of the hall and we stopped and rested.
"What was that all about?" I asked him. He took a moment to catch his breath again and looked back at me.
"Sorry General, I thought I saw the sharn trying to sniff us out, so I didn't risk it. It's still pretty early in the morning." He explained.
"Oh ok," I nodded, "and don't call me General at school, it'll make people ask questions."
"So you want me to call you Sher-bear here?" He smirked. I squinted my eyes and smiled in return.
"Just because you can't call me by my title doesn't mean you should forget who I am." I assertively smiled. Carlos, like always, just padded it off with a nod and a smile.
We walked back to our respective classes, and we decided that maybe we can wait a bit longer before attacking.
After the whole incident in the downstairs intersection, it was pretty peaceful. Before I knew it, it was lunch, and I got lucky since I shared Spanish with Leo right before it. Although he didn't really talk to me much, he seemed oblivious. I'm not sure whether that's a good or bad thing, but I guess I'm about to find out. The only flaw in this plan is that Carlos doesn't have the same lunch as us today, so that means I may or may not be on my own.
I know I just said this, but Leo really looked like he was in a daze, and it's starting to worry me. I know Hazel was in his class around the time that Carlos and I had that incident, but could it be that he saw us? I could've sworn I felt someone looking at us in the HEL wing, so maybe he saw the whole ordeal? After all, Carlos was in that wing to begin with. I guess it's kinda pointless questioning, but I still couldn't shake the thought.
Let me break down the situation.
I, General Sherindi Sodhi, am by myself in the cafeteria, speaking in terms of guardians. Carlos Roderigez, Lieutenant and my right-hand man, is currently in Humanities. At the moment, there is a sharn running loose.
Sharns are creatures of the realms, scattered everywhere, and they cause accidents, like car crashes and people choking, or worse things like fires and plane crashes. Since it creates a cover for them to live, which are called salios. Salio literally means 'cover' in Latin. We guardians have to get trained to fight these sharns, because if we don't, people can die and we'd be in trouble, as sharns can detect us and strike us directly.
Sharns are only trouble, and we as guardians need to deal with them accordingly.
Leo and I sat down at our regular table with our social circle. We sat next to each other in complete silence as our friends were all talking. I've never felt so awkward around Leo, so I try to break the ice.
But then he opened his mouth first.
"So..." He started. "What do you plan to do next Friday?"
Uh...what?
