This is a work of fan fiction using characters from the How to Train Your Dragon world, which is trademarked by Dreamworks animation L.L.C. and originally written by Cressida Cowell, and I do not claim any ownership over them or make any money from them. This story is for entertainment (and a school project) only and is not part of the official storyline.
Hiccup didn't really like planes, to him it was just grueling, being in the air, so close to the sky, and yet so far away. He liked the sky, and flying through it, but the planes, too close, and yet too far. Hiccup, you see, looked very ordinary, but that was far from accurate. He may have been on the thin side, and had an unruly mop of auburn hair that couldn't be tamed even with a magic diamond comb that can change your hairstyle instantly, but he, as unlikely as it seems, was the hero of this story.
He is an adventurer, and is starting on the most insane adventure of his life, just a small flight away, even if he doesn't know it yet.
He was not here alone though, he was with his girlfriend Astrid, a fierce blonde warrior who was a horrible cook, but an amazing fighter and axe-thrower, though where she kept her axe, and how she brought it with her, Hiccup had no idea. He was also with his longtime friend and adventuring partner Fishlegs, a blond green-eyed chubby nerd with a thirst for knowledge and a hunger to learn more, and proud of his nerdiness, often geeking out with Hiccup over rare dragon species and/or flora and fauna. They were also accompanied by Fishlegs' girlfriend Heather, a black-haired green-eyed fighter that was fiercely protective of her friends, tending to use a double-headed axe to protect those she cares about.
The four of them, along with their dragon familiars, were looking for an ancient artifact they figured out was in the area, and are meeting with two specialists that have more information.
"Hiccup, we seem to be almost to the ground," He was informed by Fishlegs. Hiccup suddenly realized he had not been paying attention and they indeed were almost to the ground.
"Are we there yet?" Asked Toothless, his draconic familiar, who was hanging out in a small crystalline form on a necklace around Hiccup's neck. Toothless was a Night Fury, one of the rarest of the dragons, part of the strike class, thus being the most powerful, appearing once roughly every 500 years. He was one of the most powerful in the Strike Class, which were already some of the strongest, fastest, and smartest.
"Yes," answered Meatlug, Fishlegs' familiar, a gronkle, part of the boulder class and third on the familiar totem pole.
"Does that mean I can have something to eat?" Toothless then asked.
"Toothless, you just ate a half-hour ago," Stormfly, Astrid's familiar, a part of the tracking and sharp classes, depending on who you ask, and second most powerful familiar group, replied.
"Stormfly's right Toothless, you don't need anymore to eat," Astrid reminded him.
"But I'm hungry, that bag of cheese thingys was nothing for a growing dragon like me," Toothless complained.
"Toothless, you may be the strongest familiar here, but you really are just the most childish," reminded Windshear, Heather's familiar, who was also part of the sharp class and thus also second on the totem pole.
"And considering he's fully grown that's saying something," replied Heather.
"Look, we can all agree Toothless is a big baby- "Hey!" - but we have to get going, the plane has already landed, and we're going to be late for this meeting if we don't get going," Astrid said, stopping the escalating argument.
"Come on, I'm hungry..." Complained Toothless some more.
"Look, Toothless, we'll get you something later, right now we have to get going," reminded Hiccup, grabbing his suitcase from the upper-head bin and going down the aisle to the front of the plane with his friends, who were one of the last groups off due to the familiar's argument.
