Not once did my glaring eyes leave the back of his head, something was off... I just knew it...
We walked past clothing stores and the dark alleyways where the homeless few slept. Nothing out of the ordinary, except I did happen to notice some homeless people surrounding a flaming barrel and dancing with no music. I wonder what crack they're buying...
I continued my focus on the sidewalk in front of me, thinking about random things that I would soon forget. As we arrived to Cafe Le Monke, I ran ahead of Cetus and held the door open for him. He smiles at my kind gesture and continues inside while I follow shortly behind.
Cetus walks up to the counter and orders his usual unsweetened iced tea, while I on the other hand, couldn't decide between getting the iced lemon pound cake or the classic coffee cake. So, I decided I wasn't really that hungry and just got a water instead. Both Cetus and I share a preference for cold things, it's honestly somewhat embarrassing that I burn my tongue after drinking any hot drink.
The two of us took a seat in the back corner by the window for a little more privacy. Cetus definitely seemed to calm down quite a lot, so I took the opportunity to ask him about earlier.
"Sooo...um what was going on with you this morning?" I questioned with a blank stare.
"O-Oh, w-what are you talking about?"
"Are you just pretending to not know or do I seriously have to tell you?"
Cetus sighed and looked down at his drink sitting in front of him, "Look, I'm sorry. I know you're worried about me, even if you can't show it physically. You always make sure I'm okay and if I'm not, you're always there to comfort me. I really don't want to loose you."
"I'm not dying anytime soon, Cetus. Unless there is something I don't know, but you do?"
"I really want to tell you, but I feel that if I do...you're...you're going to be killed." Cetus looked defeated.
He wasn't just sad, he was shattered. Something did happen, now there's no questioning it...but what could have possibly happened to scare him this much? I could tell that deep down, he was screaming for help, but he was forcing himself to keep a smile plastered on his face like a mask.
"Cetus, I can keep myself safe. I'm strong (in the real way~)." I made my voice sound more stern to make sure he knew that I was serious.
"You don't understand!"
"Then enlighten me", I replied sharply.
"I-I...", he looked as if he was about to cry.
"I gotta go-", Cetus jumped up from his seat and ran out the door.
I sighed and finished my water before heading out as well. All I could think about was how shaken Cetus was at Cafe Le Monke, I've never seen him like that before.
"Maybe a little music will calm me down", I thought to myself as I sat up from my bed.
I graduated with a major in engineering, a bachelors in astrophysics, and a minor in music so I have quite a few instruments.
"Hmm, should I play my violin, guitar, ukulele, or piano today?" I questioned aloud.
I guess I should play my ukulele, it ain't hurtin' nobody. Sitting on the edge of my bed, I strummed a few chords and played a couple of warm-up scales to start.
After playing a few random songs, I returned my ukulele back to its wall mount and got myself ready for bed. I just can't wrap my head around it, why do I understand Quantum Physics better than my own friend? Jeez, all this thinking is making me tired. Peace out consciousness.
"10:23 AM"
That's what my clock read.
I tried to fall back asleep, but I couldn't for some reason. I turned over to my other side and grabbed my phone from the nightstand. I had gotten a text from Cetus.________________________Messages________________________
Star Boi:
Meet me by the Pepega Bridge.AstrophysiTITS:
Can you tell me why first?

I waited for a couple minutes and still no reply?
I jump out of bed, put some simple clothes on, and raced out the front door. He was already waiting on the bridge by the time I got there. His brown hair was flowing softly in the cold winter breeze, he looked at me with a cold stare as I approached his figure.
"Cetus, is everything okay?" I asked with worry though my face didn't show it.
"We need to talk, (y/n)."
"Well yeah, I kinda guess that. Why else would you call me over to Pepega Bridge?"
"I thought about yesterday for a very long time and I have decided to inform you about the recent events. I have no choice but to tell you because the current outcome is unavoidable."
Shit...when he starts talking formally...something is mega wrong here.
"Have you heard the news recently?" Cetus inquired with a cold stare.
"Other than that random kid getting hit by a bus, no."
"The League of Villains in Japan is after their next victim."
"Okay and?" I replied with a cold stare.
"They're coming for someone here in the states, (y/n)."
"Cetus, is that all you're worried about? That literally could be anyone."
"That's what I thought as well...until I got a visitor."
