~•Stolen Ephemychron•~

It had been a few days since we had returned the statue. The museum owners were pleased to see their statue in one piece. It was Monday morning. I got out of bed slowly and headed for the kitchen.
"Morning sleepy head!"Mom joked as I sat down.
"Mom!" Ant said happily as he ran into the room. He was holding a backpack but it wasn't a ordinary backpack?
"I call this the jorgange!" He said as he placed this in the counter.
"You made this?" Dad questioned as he picked it up.
"Yep, it's unfair when Jeffery can't come with us just because he can't breathe out of water!" He said with a smile.
"Ant, he's a fish. He doesn't need to come with us everywhere!" I say again.
"Come on Fontaine" Dad said.
I rolled my eyes, and ate my breakfast.
"I have also grown a whole centimetre!" Ant began before I cut him off.
"Ant we know!" I say looking at him.
"Let me finish, a whole centimetre and a half!" Ant said happily.
I groaned as Mom and Dad chuckled.
"Come on you two" Mom said. I finished my breakfast quickly and followed Mom and Dad to the bridge. Mom sits in her chair with Dad standing behind her. I sat down in my chair and turn on my screen. I plug my headphones in and listen to music. Someone began tapping me on my shoulder. I chose to ignore them because it was obviously Ant.
"Fontaine, Fontaine, FONTAINE!" Ant screamed in my face. I calmly took my headphones off.
"What?" I say
"Look!" He says pointing at the screen of his tablet. It was an article about someone seeing 'aliens'
"Ant your deluded!" I simply say before picking my headphones.
"Mom!" Ant whined again.
"Ant you know not to involve your sister in those things!" Mom says looking at Ant.
Ant sits back in his seat leaving me alone again, thank goodness. After Pirate Boy has stolen my communicator I got a new one. It wasn't the exact same colour but I didn't mind really.  Mom and Dad seemed to hate him for that and for a number of more reasons too. I didn't hate him, he wasn't so bad.
"Fontaine?" Mom asked looking at me worried. It pulls me back into reality.
"Are you ok?" Mom says.
I nodd and look away.
"Could you get the rover ready?" Mom asks.
"Where are we going?" I ask curious
"We are just going to collect some data to see how the coral reef was doing" Mom said
"Oh," Ant said disappointed on hearing her answer
"It's not that boring Ant" Dad said.
"Sure.." Ant said while giving Jeffery a cookie.
"Let's go Ant!" I say signalling for him to come.
"Fine.." he said following me to the moonpool room.
I used the claw to put the rover into the water.
"Mom, we are ready!" I say over my comm
"Ok Fontaine," she replied. Not long after Mom and Dad came into the room. We all had a rebreather mask each, made for us with our signature colour. Mine green, Ant's orange, Mom's purple and Dad's light blue. We took it along with us.
"It's my turn to drive!" Ant said and was about to jump into the rover before Mom caught him.
"No way, last time I let you drive you wrecked it!" Mom said sternly and made him sit at the back. I laughed at him, Ant glared at me. Mom was driving. Mom piloted the rover out of the Aronax. We didn't want the Aronax too close to the reef as it could disturb it. As we approached the reef, the rover stopped.
"Let's go!" Mom said.
Everyone put their rebreather mask on and Dad pressed the button to fill the rover with water. We were ejected out.
"Fontaine could you help me collect some samples." Mom said
"Sure!" I said swimming with her to the coral. Mom took some samples of the coral to make sure they were healthy while Dad and Ant were basically just messing about.
"Done!" Mom said, she passed me the samples.
"Lets go!" She said to Dad and Ant.
We swam back to the rover. As we approached the Aronax Mom presses the button to open the moonpool. Suddenly, something big came up on sonar.
"What that!" I said loudly.
"I don't know but it's heading straight for us!" Mom said panicked.
We all looked left first and looked to the right to see the Dark Orca about to crash into us! Mom tried to manoeuvre is out that way but it was too late. I close my eyes because I know what was going to happen. The Dark Orca crashed straight into the rover making us sink to the sea floor. I open my eyes to see the glass cracked and everyone else unconscious. I shake Dad first, he immediately gets up luckily.
"Are you ok?" He asks
I nodd. I shake Ant.
"What happened?" He says half conscious.
"Ant!" I say as I hug him.
"Uhhh," he says as he gets up. I let go as soon as he does. Dad had Mom in his arms. She was hurt the most as she was the nearest to where the Dark Orca hit.
"They are onboard the Aronax!" Ant said pointing to the Aronax. Hammerhead's crew were swimming to the Aronax, some were already inside.
"Fontaine, Ant go!" Dad said. We climb out of the rover and headed for the Aronax.
When we climb on board a couple of men are standing there.
"Leave now!" I say loudly. They were the same group which I had pushed into the water with the claw so naturally they were scared and left immediately. We first checked the bridge, no one was there. A loud bang came from the study.
"Oh no!" Ant said before he ran off. We opened the door to the study. The safe was blown open, the emphemychron was stolen.
"Dad! The emphemycron was stolen!" I said over my comm.
There was no reply, communication must of been cut. Someone then jumped down and made a run for it. We followed them. Just before they jumped into the water I caught a glimpse of who it was... Finn.
"He's getting away!" Ant said and was about to jump but I grabbed his hand before he could.
"Dad?" I say over my comm again, the Dark Orca must of left because Dad answered back.
"Fontiane? Are you ok?" He asks
"They stole the empheychron!" Ant interrupted me.
"What! Hold on I'm coming." Dad said before ending it.
A few moments later Dad submerges out of the water helping Mom swim too.
"Mom, your ok!" Me and Ant say together hugging her.
"I'm fine, nothing serious luckily," Mom said quietly.
Dad took her to the medical room.
"Could you bring your Mom some medicine, I think it's in your room!" Dad said.
I head to my room and on my desk was a note.
Fontaine,
Sorry about crashing into the rover. The Dark Orca's brake don't work that well as you saw. We didn't want to hurt your family.
Finn
Part of me believed him but the rest thought he was lying. Plus he also stole the empheychron, we were close to finding Lemuria and now he stole it! To be fair I don't think he actually knows what it is even.
"Fontaine?" Dad asked over his comm. I grab the note and folded it up and kept it in a box. I take the medicine to Dad.
"About the empheychron..." I began.
"Ant told me, one of the pirates stole it, I know." Dad said
"Uhh, yeah a pirate." I said
Thank goodness Ant hadn't recognised it was Finn or Dad and Mom would definitely hate him. "We have to get it back though, more monumentials are waking up, some more dangerous than others." Dad said. Mom sat up and put her hand in his shoulder. Dad turned around and smiled at Mom.
Lemuria was once an advanced seafaring civilization. It somehow disappeared. There are countless artifacts under the Earth's oceans leading to Lemuria. The generations of Nektons before us devoted their lives to search for Lemuria and uncovering the secrets of the deep, we were closer than any of them because we found the empheychron. The empheychron was a navigational device showing the locations to various things, one being monumentials. There are some symbols on the map which we haven't yet explored and each one of them being a possibility of being Lemuria.
