~•The Black Market•~

After the empheychron had been stolen we were trying to translate symbols that Dad had saved. Mom was ok after the impact and was back to normal in no time.
"Ugh! No match!" Dad said loudly. Lemurian was really not the easiest thing to translate.
"Would there be anyone who could help decipher it?" Mom asked putting her hand on Dad's shoulder.
"Well except from Nereus, who will definitely not help us, then no. It's a lost language. No one else alive could read it." Dad said
He is a mysterious old guy who pops up at the weirdest times. His favorite hobby seems to be saying cryptic things that don't make any sense, then disappearing when we could actually use his help, kind of ironic considering he's supposed to be one of those "Guardians". Maybe he thinks it's funny, but it's just annoying.
"What about..." Mom began.
"Dolos." Dad interrupted her. From what Dad told me and Ant, Dolos has went to college with them. And they also said he was not to be trusted.
"We are going to the black market!" Ant screamed from behind the door. It was clear he was eavesdropping on us which Mom wasn't too pleased about.
"Hang on!" Mom said pulling him into the room.
"Please..."Ant pleased.
"Ant, it's just a floating market!" I say sceptically.
"With pirates!" He said excitedly.
"I'll get us there in an hour, and during that I'll think about it." Mom said leaving the room.
"But Mom!" Ant said, chasing after her. I sat down next to Dad.
"Dad, you know Hammerhead and his crew..." I began cautiously "had stolen the empheychron, I don't think they actually know what it does."
"I know but they did steal it didn't they" Dad said calmly. Dad definitely hadn't changed his mind about them. I headed to my room and opened the box where I had kept the note in. I realised something was taped onto the back of it, how did I not realise. It was a small pearl, I loved pearls, they were my favourite. I took it off the paper. Mom suddenly came into the room.
"Fontaine..." she began. I hid the note and pearl under my pillow and stood up. She could feel something was up.
"Mom?" I say pulling her out of her thoughts.
"Oh, uh yes! The engine had stopped working, could you help" she says. I nodd and as we make our way down to the engine room I couldn't help fiddling with my hands. Mom knew something was up but must of brushed it aside.
"Pass me the torch!" Mom said as she examined the engine.
A few minutes passed with dead silence. I stood there trying not to be too obvious I was hiding something but Mom was mom. She could definitely tell something was off.
"The engines just overheated, we should be fine!" She said passing me the torch back.
"Kaiko? Are the engines ok?" Dad asked over the comm.
"Yeah, they just overheated" she replied. I quickly rushed to my room. I took the pearl out from under my pillow and the note too. I kept it inside the box and got my guitar out. I loved musical instruments, my favourite the guitar. I don't know how long I spent playing the guitar but once I finished we had already reached the Black Market.
"Fontaine, come to the bridge" Mom said over her comm, she sounded very annoyed.
As I headed, I heard Ant giving a speech on why he should go to the Black Market. I groaned as I sat down near Mom. She had a disapproving look on her face but smiled when I sat down.
"So, please could I come!" And finished off with.
"Ok fine, but promise me you won't get into trouble!" Mom said firmly.
Ant nodded happily. He rushed to his backpack thing.
"Ant, you really don't need to bring that along!" I say pointing at it.
"Firstly it's called the jorgange!" He began
"Why is it called that?" I say.
"Because it is now the first word that rhymes with orange, but secondly because it's not fair when Jeffery doesn't join us!" He said pointing at the Yellow Basslet.
"Come on then..." Dad said. We followed Mom and Dad to the moon pool room. We sat in the rover, Mom driving. As we surfaced Ant jumped out first.
"I'll stay here just in case things get messy!" Mom said closing it. She dived back under the water.
"Stay close to me, the Black Market is really not a place for children!" Dad said as we went quietly along the dock. I don't know how Ant managed to convince Mom to come here. Ant was stubborn but Mom was much more than him especially when it came to her family.
We followed Dad to a shabby boat.
"Fontaine stay here and keep a look out, Ant follow me!" Dad said before disappearing into the boat. I felt I was being watched, next thing I know a hand was covering my mouth and pulled me into an alley.
I managed to push them away from me but then I saw who it was, Finn?
"Finn?" I say.
"Shhh.."he said
"What are you doing here?" I say
"I was going to ask you that" he says back
I smile, "it's none of your business" I say pointing at him jokingly. He smiled back.
"About stealing the empheychron, I had to" he said.
I look disapprovingly at him, he gave a smile. I couldn't help but smile back.
"I'll try to give it back as soon as possible!"
"Did you like the gift?" He asked coming closer to me. For some reason I didn't back away.
"Fontaine!" My dad said over his comm.
"Where are you! We need to leave now!" He said loudly. Finn moved back immediately scratching his head.
"I got to go!" I say turning around. I then turned back to face him.
"I loved the pearl" I say before running off. Why did I feel that way I thought as I ran. I see Dad, Mom and Ant waiting at the dock.
"Where were you?" Mom asked worried.
"Uhh" I stutter, I was never the best at lying.
"No time, we need to go!" Dad said pointing to the rover. I look behind, some of Hammerhead's crew were behind us.
We jump into the rover just before the pirates caught up. As we boarded the Aronax Dad held some paper.
"So, did you find out what they mean!" Mom asked.
"Yes, this one means fire and those are..." Dad said listing a whole load of things.
I didn't tell anyone that I had seen Finn although Mom was trying to get where I was out of me and was quite persistent, Mom was not ready to give up.
