Chapter 2

At first Dante stood frozen and couldn't move, he just stared. The same with Gene, but he had a more scared look on his face, probably caused by Dante having a weapon, and he didn't. Then in a second Dante sprung into a fighting position and went after Gene. Gene, terrified for his life, barely just missed the edge of the katana by jumping to the side and off of the bed.

"Dante! Stand down!" Aphmau called, but he didn't listen and continued on attacking Gene, who was dancing all around the room trying not to get hit. Honestly, it was quite funny watching this man, who was feared by many, looking scared as he kept barely dodging the attacks. But alas you knew it couldn't go on forever as one of them could get hurt, or even more hurt than they were before. So you grabbed your sword and blocked Dante before he could land an actual blow.

"Dante that's enough!" you shouted. You moved your body to cover Gene, who had now fallen to the floor out of breath and slight relief that it was over for now.

"(Y/n) move."

"No,"

"Lady Aphmau-"

"Dante, it's okay" she says trying to calm him down a bit.

"No, it's not okay. Why is he here!" You could see that he was on the verge of crying.

"Me and my soldiers retreated from a battle through a nether portal. It just so happened to send us here" Gene responded. Dante gave him a glare as he didn't want an answer from him.
"He's also going to help us defeat Shad," Aphmau continues. "We had just discussed it before you came in."

"And after this you won't have to see me ever again." Gene says as he gets up off the floor. You hear him grunt in pain behind you but you kept your eyes on Dante.

After a moment Dante finally relaxes and lowers his weapon but continued to glare at Gene, who glared right back at him. Aphmau just shook her head in disappointment and sighed at how childish the two of them were acting right now. After the two of them dropped their glares Dante finally told Aphmau the reason why he came, and they both were about to head out before Dante turned back to Gene one last time with a warning.

"Stay away from my family," and then they both headed out. Gene then turns to you with a confused look on his face.
"Family?"

"Yeah, family." you respond. You didn't want to give away too much as you still can't trust Gene and what happened between him and Dante right now it's better that way. "Anyway, Aphmau entrusted me to watch over you but, I still have my patrol, so we are going for a walk around town."

"Are you serious? A walk?"

"As I said it;s a patrol but nothing happens so it's more like a walk,"

"Nothing happens aye?" A mischievous smirk forms on his.

"Wipe that smirk off your face or I'll wipe it off for you," he just chuckles and begins to head out the door.

"So are you coming or what?" and then he just leaves.

"Hey!" you shout as you follow after him.

So begins your walk around the town, well after you dragged Gene back to the room to get him some actual clothes. As you two walked you noticed some of his soldiers were let free, though some were still being questioned of course. One of the free ones was Zenix who actually came up to you two, mostly to check on Gene. You have no clue if Garroth or Aphmau have seen him yet but once they do, it's probably going to be awkward between the three of them because of their history.

Anyway you just stood there as Zenix and Gene were talking. You of course were listening to their conversation to see if it was anything important but it wasn't. It was just them seeing how eachother were doing and if they were alright after the fight with Shad.

"So, who's this lovely lady right here?" You were snapped out of your thoughts from Zenix who was now staring at you with a smirk. Gene just shook his head clearly not amused by his comment.

"She's a guard they assigned to me,"

"Well, what's her name?"

"My name is (Y/n), (Y/n) Ro'meave, and aren't you supposed to have a guard as well?"

"Yeah, I ditched that fucker. And cool a Ro'meave, and she's a pretty one as well." His smirk grows wider as he looks at Gene and begins to talk again about girls and whatever. And your sure you also heard him talk about some of the male guards and gawking over them. But you weren't listening as you were comparing the two men in front of you.

Now Zenix was way smaller than Gene, while Gene stood around 6'2 Zenix looked to be around 5'4 or 5'5 at the most. He also had a smaller figure but still muscular as you could see his abs through his open shirt with the bottom of it was tucked into his pants. Zenix had a carefree joker attitude to him while Gene seemed more put together and professional.

Now while you were stuck in your thoughts again you didn't notice a figure sneaking up behind you. And when you did it was too late as they had already wrapped their arms around you and lift you up into the air. The first thing you did was scream of course grabbing everyone's attention around you. You started struggling before you hear a familiar chuckle behind you.

"Laurance?"

"Hey Darling."

Once Laurance puts you down you hug him before reluctantly letting go. Zenix and Gene then turn to him as well.

"There you are Laurance I was just looking for you," Zenix exclaimed.

"I got lost...the island has gotten bigger since I've been here last." And then something in you ticked and anger raged through you.

"Well you would know your way around if you stayed," You snapped. The three of them turned to you in shock and Laurance retorted.

"Well I couldn't stay,"

"And why not huh? You left with no word, no note, no nothing. Do you have any idea how worried we all were!" Your voice got loud as you yelled at him letting all your anger spill out.

"Because I was afraid-"

"Of what?"

"Of hurting Aphmau!" And then it went silent.
