Chapter 4

The next morning you had gathered the Shadow Knights in the town square. The two other guards were there too. One was another female named Eris who's a human, and the other was a werewolf named Reiniar. They both seemed a bit timid around the Shadow Knights but you were glad that they still volunteered to help.

"So Lady (Y/n), how are the three of us going to watch over all of these troops," Reiniar asks.

"I don't know, but we'll find a way." You respond. You actually had no idea what to do at all and you doubt it was possible to keep an eye out on all of them. But Gene seemed to notice your distraught and gave a suggestion.

"The best thing you can do is keep a close eye over the commanders which there are three including me." 

"And who are the other two?"

"Zenix and Reeya, and since there are three of us each you all can watch over one of us."

"That's ...not a bad idea actually," Reiniar says agreeing with Gene's idea.

"Well, you are already watching me (Y/n), so now for the other two." You took a minute to make a decision.

"Reiniar, do you think you can handle Zenix?"

"Z-Zenix? Uh... sure I think I can handle him,"

"I would careful kid he's.....difficult," Gene smirks.

"So that means you get Reeya, Eris,"

"Is she tough to handle as well?" Eris asks Gene.

"Nah, she actually listens and does what she's told to do." You see Reiniar give a shaky sigh.

"Well, we better go find them then," Gene starts to walk into the crowd of Shadow Knights but turns around to the three of you before he walks in. "Goodluck." and then he disappears. The three of you just stood there dumbfounded with your mouths open.

"Wait, Lady (Y/n) aren't you supposed to keep careful watch one him?" Reiniar gives you a worried look.

"Shit!" you yelled and you ran into the crowd looking for Gene.
Now you were looking all over for Gene through the crowd asking anyone if they saw him.

"Dammit, where could that bastard be," You sighed almost defeated. Aphmau trusted you with watching him and now you have no clue where he is.

"Looking for someone?" Your face drops, you knew that voice and it was someone you really didn't want to talk to right now.

"Laurance, I don't have time right now."

"(Y/n) please can we just talk I'll explain everything,"

"As I said, I'm kind of busy at the moment." You continue to look around as Laurance follows you.

"Can't you put it off for a few minutes," he says as he grabs your arm. It wasn't a rough grab or anything, just something to get your attention back on him.

"No,"

"Why?"

"Cause I lost Gene and I'm in full panic mode right now so can you please be helpful and help me find him." He just stared at you for a moment before smiling.

"(Y/n), oh my sweet (Y/n)."

"Laurance," You say annoyed with his calm tone of voice.

"He's literally right on top of the well." in an instant you turn to the well, which was in the middle of the square, to see him sitting on top of it with his legs dangling looking around.

"Are you serious," you hear Laurance laughing behind you. You stomp away from him and headed for the well.

As you got closer Gene seemed to notice you and jumped off landing right in front of you.

"Hey, what's with the pissy face?"

"I ran into Laurance while looking for you and then he laughed at me because I couldn't find you." Gene smirks and looks at you with amused eyes.

"Don't know how to look up do you?"

"Shut up," And then he starts laughing. "So what, am I the laughing stock right now?"

"I mean-"

"Don't even finish that sentence," his smirk grows wider. "Don't." he shrugs.

"Whatever you say, Princess."

"Don't call me that either,"

"You like to say 'don't' a lot, don't you?"

"I will plunge my sword through your chest,"

"Getting violent now aye?" your face was getting red with anger and annoyance but the bickering between you two was fun in a way.

"Uh, Lady (Y/n)?" Reiniar taps your shoulder which makes you jump a bit. "Oh, I'm sorry! I just wanted to make sure you were alright since your face is bright red,"

"Yes, I'm fine," you glare at Gene who gives you an innocent looking smile."Just annoyed that's all."

"Oh, well we were able to find Zenix and Reeya, though Zenix was a somewhat tricky to find."

"It's because he's short," Gene snickers.

"Hey!" Zenix shouts with a whine. "It's not my fault, I didn't choose to be short."

"Then grow," Zenix in an instant rushes at Gene and starts trying to hit him with punches and kicks. Gene dodges all of them miraculously with his hands behind his back and a smug look on his face. People had also started to make a circle around them. Some who were watching were cheering them on as you and Reiniar just stood there with your mouths agape.

"Why you motherfucker! I'll teach you how it feels to be short when I snap off your legs." And yet Gene continues to dodge him just fine and seemed to be unfazed by Zenix's threats. 

"So... what did we miss?" Eris and Reeya finally join us. Reeya just shakes her head at the two in disappointment and mumbles 'idiots' under her breath.

"Should we stop them?"

"If you do it's possible you'll get hurt doing so." says Reeya.
"So, your saying it's no use?" Eris crosses her arms.

"Exactly, Zenix is strong but he can't control himself when he gets angry, Gene knows this. But he's an idiot and finds it funny to rile him up about stuff."

After a few mints You were  getting really annoyed with this, and you also felt some sympathy with Zenix as you were short yourself compared to the people around you. And because Gene was being a huge asshole as well for no reason. You pulled out your sword and sliced your sword between the two separating them both.

"Enough!" You boomed and you glare and Zenix first. Zenix flinched when his eyes met with yours and he stepped back a bit. Gene just gave him a confused glance but then smirked playfully.

"Come on Princess, we weren't hurting anyone. Or each other since Zenix failed to land a hit on me."

"Hey!"

"Gene that's enough!" Your voice boomed again as you turn to glare at him, your eyes filled with rage. Gene just gave you a shocked expression his mouth slightly opened as well now he realized why Zenix stepped back. 

"So that's why 'Irene' chose you Princess." You just continued to glare at him and kept yourself quiet.

"You're a Shadow Knight as well."
