End of times

Chapter 2: The Ambush

Everyone got themselves a gun for the expedition. Farhan thrusts Samy enough that he gives him a bigger gun. They don't really know what is going to happen but they tell themselves that it's for food so it's important. Farhan quickly removes Jacobs' gun because he knows that he is mentally unstable so he gives him a knife instead. Liam goes over the plan again to make sure that everyone knows what they'll be doing. Liam tells them that Farhan and he will stay in front while Samy will protect the back and Jacob will be in the middle. And on that note, they start leaving their safety. Everybody except Samy is confident because he is the only one that has never shot a gun. Farhan was a secret agent, Liam was a policeman and Jacob used to hunt.

As they leave the safety of the bunker, they spot immediately one of those half-melted face mutants. Jacob starts panicking, Liam says to the group to say on a low profile and shoot only when necessary. They sneak past the creature and resume their way. The market is about 3 kilometers North-East so we should be ready for anything.

As they are walking down the road, they hear screams. Everybody pauses, Farhan looks around and says it's clear. They are tempted to move towards the sounds but they've seen too many movies to be that dumb. The damages to the building keep getting worst so they assume that this was closer to the explosion. To pass time, the four guys start talking about where they come from and how they never thought Russia was gonna do such a horrible thing. They ask themselves if it's like this everywhere on the planet. Liam stays positive saying that it's probably better up north but would be too cold for anyone to live. Nobody even talks about how bad it must be in the USA.

Farhan talks about how if the nuclear bomb would've exploded three days later he would've been in Russia fighting. Liam says that he considered going to war but was unable due to an injury he suffered to his leg that healed in the past few days. They started to wonder how bad was the death amount. Farhan says that if it's all over the world it would be about 13 billion. The screams come back and it makes everybody in the group jump. Farhan agrees that the group should just take a look because it might be a person they can help. As they approach the screams, Jacob gets a bad feeling. He decides to stay a bit back. When they arrive on the sight, they see that it's a woman in pain.  Farhan approaches slowly and goes to see what the wounds are. He spots nothing that is wrong and at that point, the woman screamed: ''NOW!''. In two seconds, 3 people surround them with machine guns in hand. Samy, Liam, and Frahan all put their hands up. They take them to a backstreet that has another prisoner. They scream:'' Stay there! ''. Two of them leave and one stays to check on us. 

30 minutes later, the two other guys and the girl come back and they say to the guarding dude that they can't find the other one. They leave again and the guy guarding starts talking about how the group is dead meat and that if they don't say where more resources are they will be killed off one by one. From the corner of his eye, Liam spots what looks to be Jacob. Liam starts talking to the guard and says how that was a good tactic and slowly behind him Jacob was creeping up. The guard hears the footsteps and turns around. Jacob charges at him and the guard shoots at him. Jacob has the time to get close and knock him down. Liam gets up and helps Jacob. The whole group gets up and goes running. They start running but realize that the other prisoner is tied up. They debate if they should help him or not and they vote. Everybody except Farhan says yes, so they quickly untie him and start running. 

They run for about 5 minutes until they realize that Jacob was behind because he injured his elbow throwing himself at the guard. Liam says to the group to keep going and get to the market but he stays and goes to help Jacob. After a few minutes, Liam and Jacob make it to the market where Farhan, Samy, and the prisoner were waiting. During the time that Liam and Jacob were catching up, the prisoner explains how he got caught by the gang. He starts telling them that his name is Zack Coté and that he was just getting ready for whatever was going to happen and he got knock out by a flying object. When he woke up he was on the floor and his house was completely destroyed and his wall almost fell on him. He got up and couldn't feel his legs. he went outside and the sky was green and he knew exactly what had happened. He looked for a day for resources until he almost got killed y this melted face creature. He ran and ran into the gang, they tied him up and started hitting him and asking him where his resources are. He also told the group that if they hadn't helped him right there he would've died from hunger. 

Liam and Jacob start reassuring him and telling him about their safe spot, Farhan stops them before they reveal the location. He makes the group huddle and starts talking about how he might still work for the group and might just go and tell them after. Samy disagrees, he tells Farhan that a soul that looks that broken must be telling the truth. Farhan turns to Liam and asks him: ''What do you think we should do?''. Liam says that he would take him in for a couple of days and that if he is suspicious, they would just kill him. Farhan agrees.

They tell Zack to go around the market and search for canned food and they'll do the same. After a few minutes of search, they have three full bags of canned food. They still have another bag so they take what has the furthest expiration date and they'll just eat it first. After their search, they went out of the market and they say that someone needs to be the look-out. They decide to send Zack and he says that the coast is clear. When they go out of the market they see from afar something that looks like a new mutant. This one has red eyes, long skinny legs, and a rat head. The creature starts running and it goes extremely fast. It suddenly turns its head 180 degrees and looks straight at Zack. The creatures' body follows the head and starts running in a straight line. Farhan quickly tries to shoot it but can,t seem to hit a shot. Suddenly, out of nowhere a bullet passes by Zacks' head and hits the beast.

The group looks behind them and they see a man holding a sniper rifle on top of a pile of rubble. The man gets closer and closer and Farhan points his gun at him. The guy doesn't flinch and tells Farhan to calm down. He gets closer and introduces himself, ''I am Owen Damilola and you're welcome''. Everybody in the group is stunned and Liam steps up and says: ''Thank You''. Owen starts talking about how he's been following them for a little while and is searching for a group to settle in. Farhan is skeptical as usual but Liam is quite happy to have such a skilled shooter in the group. Samy is also quite happy to have a person like him. Jacob is neutral about it. They were about to ask Zack but decided to not do it. Now it is official, the group expands even more.

The group walks towards the bunker which is still far away, they start asking Owen about his backstory, he says that he was a sniper that was supposed to be sent to Russia but decided not to go because of the birth of his daughter. He goes on about how she was only 4 months old when she got literally sucked out of the house by the force of the explosion. Liam explains how they all have a story that saddens them but now it's a different game and they gotta get through it or else that is what is going to kill them and not the mutants. Farhan stays quiet as he watches what Zack his doing, Farhan is waiting for one mistake.

As they turn a corner, they spot a gigantic reunion of mutants and it's really bad. Everybody goes quickly back. The group decides that they will have to find another way. They look at their phones and only one has downloaded the Montreal map and it was Liam. They find another way and they quickly make a run for it.

As they finally arrive and their bunker, there is a random person banging on the wall for help. Farhan says no and repats it but Liam and Samy still wanting more to make sure of safety, they slowly approach the woman and ask her what's wrong, she has a little jump of fear and says: ''Thank God!''. She starts saying how she lost her group and that there are things following her that she has never seen before. She says that her group got ambushed by mutants and that she left faster than light. Liam and Samy realize that it was because of that that there were so many mutants. The group lets her in the bunker but makes her stay in the corner until she explains more about herself as every other person she starts talking about how she survived an accident and that she really needed resources. She says a valid story but the group still doesn't fully believe her so they put her in a room until further notice...
