The Avengers Meet Peter

He's Not My Son

All the Avengers (Tony, Steve, Bucky, Bruce, Wanda, Clint, Natasha, Rhodey, Thor and Loki.) Were all sitting around the dining table eating Chilli that Steve made. Tony was laughing his ass off as he told the team about a story where Peter ate a whole pepper and was showering himself in milk. Tears of laughter were covering his face, if you told anyone at the table that Tony would be like this a year ago, they would laugh in your face. But, people change, and people change people.

"Ok, that's enough." Clint interrupted Tony. Tony stopped, wiped his tears away and looked at Clint.

"What?" Tony asked.

"When are we going to meet this son of yours?" Steve asked.

The past mood, immediately deflated and silence filled the room. Tony instantly looked sadder. Like Tony, they have known in the past years.

"He's not my son." Tony said. His voice holding a sober, serious and disappointment.

"You talk about him like he is a son." Bucky pointed out.

"So then are we going to meet him?" Natasha asked. Tony didn't make eye contact, he just stared down at his food.

Pepper walked in. She sighed before taking her heels off and then sitting in her spot at the table next to Tony giving him a kiss on the check.

"What's wrong?" She asked everyone at the table.

"They want to meet Peter." Tony informed her.

"And Tony won't let us." Thor said.

"I never said you couldn't." Tony defended. Almost sounding childish.

"So can we meet him?" Wanda asked.

"No."

"Why no-"

"NO That's final." Tony said. There was no room for debate, Tony had said the last word, this had clearly gotten to him.

Pepper and Tony were in their bedroom talking.

"So why is it that you don't want the team meeting Peter?" Pepper asked. Tony let out a loud sigh before sitting on the bed with his head in his hands.

"Pepper you know me, I'm selfish."

"You've risked your life for the Earth multiple times." Pepper said sitting next to Tony.

"That was Iron Man, not Tony Stark." Tony said leaning on Pepper's shoulder.

"What's the difference?"

"Iron Man is a hero who protects. Tony Stark is a selfish, ex-playboy, ex-drinking craze, un-healthy, spoilt and selfish man. Who doesn't deserve Peter. But, I'm selfish, so instead, I pretend as though I am worthy of having Peter in my life." Tony said.

"Noe of that is true." Pepper said firmly.

"It is. And that's why I'm afraid of Peter meeting the Avengers. He'll realize that he deserves so much better. And I don't want to lose Peter." Tony said, a tear leaving his eyes. Pepper gave Tony a tight hug.

"Peter will never leave you. He cares too much for you. I see it every day when you too hang out. He sees you as Iron Man and Tony Stark. And not the Tony Stark you think. He sees the one who escaped imprisonment, proving to always keep fighting. He sees the one who created brand new technology, a new element and a multi-billion company, proving that being smart is nothing to be ashamed of. He sees the man who turned his weapon industry into an environmental industry, proving that mistakes happen and you can redeem yourself. And so much more."

"I just don't want to lose my son."

"You won't lose him." Pepper ensured.
