Layella woke with a start. She temporarily forgot the past day's events, and had to recollect her thoughts. Terry! She rushed to the room he was sleeping in, and slammed the door open. "Terry, Terry, Terry!" She shouted. Then she noticed the lack of lump in the blankets. He was already gone. She rushed down the stairs, each small leap clearing two or three steps at a time, almost tripping a couple of times. She saw down there: Ralph, Felix, and Calhoun all on the couch watching Terry and Vanellope giving a demonstration. Vanellope was mid-speech.
"...And while Ralph and Calhoun are 'arguing', Felix will be screaming about it to try to grab more attention, and me and Terry, and Layella will tear down the signs, and sneak through the door! Yay!"
Sounds like a good enough plan to me... She decided. "Wait!" She interrupted, rushing to the middle of the room. "You're actually willing to help? You seemed pretty mad last night..." Her voice faded. Vanellope looked at her. "Well, look. Of course I want to help! You don't think I'm going to stay out of trouble because I'm president, do you?"
That was a dumb assumption, I suppose... "Okay, so wait. What if it's a trap?" Layella ventured.
"Look, Hair, I'll be there, so will Ralph... I'm sure you'll be fine. No need to wet your britches." Calhoun spoke.
Layella looked up and noticed her hair was sticking out all over the place. She just didn't care.
"Wait, what about me and Felix? We'd be able to help, too!" Vanellope argued. Then Calhoun spoke up once again.
"Well, Felix's hammer isn't exactly going to do much damage, and you're, well, small, and covered in candy."
Vanellope looked downcast for a moment, but only for a small amount of time. Terry spoke next. "So that's the plan? When are we leaving?"
Calhoun glanced around, and Felix raised his hand.
"When will you be ready? I think we should all eat first, so we have proper nutrition and strength, and-" he was interrupted by Ralph
"-Just get ready, and tell us when you're done."
Felix just nodded. It was about two hours later. Everyone had eaten, and they were all going over the plans one more time. Layella was a bit nervous, but at the same time, excited. But also very nervous. She had a hard time eating, but she was thrilled by the thought of getting back home. She was jerked from her thoughts as she noticed everybody else standing up, preparing to leave. She stood up and looked up at Vanellope's castle one more time, for this could be the last. She found herself so sad at the thought of leaving, there was almost a tug in her feet telling her to stay. Yes, she would miss this, but she knew how important it was to get home.
Here it is... Game Central Station. Where it all began, and where it will all end... She had to stop herself from wandering any further into her thoughts. It saddened her so deeply.. "Okie dokie, then..." She said as they stopped in front of the sign.
Terry looked over at Ralph and Calhoun. "Okay, phase one... begin." They glanced at one another and headed more in the middle of the room.
"I said stay three feet away from me at all times!" Ralph began.
Calhoun slid her foot about an inch closer. "Hows this, big guy? Aww, am I scaring you too much?" Layella noticed she had a very good fake taunt.
Felix stepped in. "Guys!" His voice was raised extra loud. "The past is in the past! Just forget about it!" He screamed.
Layella looked over to Terry as she noticed the accomplishment of gathering wandering eyes. Vanellope began tearing down signs, quietly, but quickly.
Ralph stepped towards Calhoun. "You wanna go, sister? These arms were made for wrecking!" Calhoun took one step towards him. "Bring it on! This gun was made for destroying bugs like you!" Then Felix's turn. "THIS IS NOT NECESSARY!"
Terry nudged Layella's arm and pointed to where the holographic guard was making his way towards the arguing trio. Layella chuckled, then got back to work. She tore off a sign, hidden now from the guard due to the gathering crowd, figuring out what the shouting is. She saw a sign of wood, and worked faster. Vanellope, Terry, and Layella were all working faster now, and they could see a lot of the old wooden door now. Then it happened. Over the other shouting, they heard a male voice, shouting
"Hey! What do you kids think you're doing?! Get away from there, get out!"
Layella turned around to see a non-holographic guard rushing towards them, the only thing slowing him down being the crowd walking in his way. Vanellope glanced at us with such a horrified expression, it scared Layella even more. Suddenly Vanellope jumped up, grabbed a sign, and tugged with all her might. There was a loud crack! and all the rest of the signs came tumbling to the floor. Terry grabbed the doorknob, and pulled it open so rough, one of the hinges broke off the wall. Layella couldn't see what was on the other side, but it did not matter. She could hear the guards' footsteps now, so she ran through the door, right before being grabbed by the guard's outstretched arms. She heard a exclamation, and turned to see Terry grasped in his hands. Vanellope looked at the guard, and in an instant, jumped on his back, then onto his head. She started grabbing his hands, and covering his eyes. In the guard's confusion, he let go of Terry, and he, too, rushed through the door. "Goodbye, and take care!" They heard from Vanellope.
"We'll miss you, squirts!" Came Ralph's voice.
"See ya in the afterlife, kids!" Shouted Calhoun.
"Hopefully we'll see you around!" Said Felix.
Terry and Layella waved, then took off running at full speed. The guards gave chase, then obviously decided it was too dangerous to try to get them. The doorway was blocked with a loud, echoing bang, then all was silent. For a little bit, that is. Layella suddenly had to cover her ears as the whole area was filled with a loud, shrieking, static noise, and Layella risked a glance up at her surroundings. There, she saw the very same thing as before they made it to Game Central Station for the first time. Static, with a door at the end of the empty, other-worldly hallway. She rushed to the door, just hoping it would lead home. She gripped the doorknob, and her hands started to sweat. She opened the door with her eyes closed, and heard several gasps. Terry had not said a word, and Layella figured his eyes were shut too. She was about to open her eyes to see what world she had made it to, when she heard, with a slight accent, a male voice, with the greeting, "Hey, howdy, hey!". At that point she needn't even open her eyes, she knew exactly where they were. She opened them anyway, and saw what she then already knew. There, in front of her, she saw a group of toys. Not just any toys, however, but walking, talking ones. Different assortments and such, of friendly, living toys. This was not home, but, in fact, the world of Toy Story.
