Friends?

Lee headed down the hallway looking back to make sure Niko was following. "Your awful quiet." Lee said, having not heard Niko utter a single word since they left the office. "Are you nervous about meeting your classmates?" Niko nodded and looked around.

The walls where painted a light blue and the lockers where painted a painfully bright cheery red. Niko wondered why the painter had though blue and neon red would go together. Leon suddenly stopped.

"What's first on your schedule?" He asked, pointing at the paper in Niko's hand. Niko handed it to him, "Oh! You have Biology first with Mr. Smith. So do I, he's super nice I swear." Lee said grabbing Nikos hand and walking down the hall, dragging Niko along with him.

Lee stopped at an oak wood door. Niko looked into the small window that was set into the door, there where so many people. Niko bit his lip nervously and played with the hem of his sweatshirt sleeve. "Hey," Lee said looking at him. "It's alright, you got here a bit late so it's already second period. Our class is smaller, I promise." Niko nodded and took a deep breath.

Lee opened the door and smiled. " Hello Mr. Smith!" Lee said cheerfully, waving at the class. The teacher, Mr. Smith was a tall man with a collared shirt on. He smiled and nodded at Lee, "To what do I owe the pleasure, Leon?" The teacher asked, putting down the marker he was using on the white board.

" Sorry to interrupt but I was showing around a new student who has you for first period." Lee said nudging Niko through the door. Niko looked at Mr. Smith. " This is Niko." Lee stood beside him and smiled. "Why hello, Niko." The teacher said. " I look forward to seeing you in class." Niko nodded and smiled.

" Now if you excuse us we have to go to his other classes." Lee said and ushered Niko out the door. They went to Niko's other classes, all the teachers welcomed him and looked happy to see a new face and stop their lessons.

Lunch had already started when Lee showed Niko the cafeteria, " Looks like lunch has started." Lee said and took Niko's hand, leading him to the lunch line. Lee got his lunch and Niko followed not getting anything. His guide sat down at an empty table and beckoned Niko to sit as well. "Aren't you hungry?" Lee asked and Niko shook his head, he had brought his lunch but he was to overwhelmed to eat at the moment.

Lee started talking about some of his friends and how he would introduce them to Niko after he finished eating, but Niko wasn't very interested. He just wanted to go home and sleep, he was tired from walking around and listening to Lee talk all morning. Lee tapped his arm lightly. "Hey, you look exhausted." Lee noted. "Are you alright?"

Niko nodded quickly, " Yes," He said quietly, smiling wearily. "You see, I have Narcolepsy so I'm usually very tired all the time." Lee nodded and stood up to throw his lunch try away.

When he came back he was accompanied by two other people. "Niko!" Lee said, sitting down the other kids sitting next to him. "This is Jessie and Bryan!" Jessie waved, she had a friendly smile and very short red hair, Bryan looked less approachable. He had a scowl on his face and had fierce blue eyes, looking like he wanted to kill Niko. "H-Hello..." Niko said nervously. Bryan nodded and Jessie waved.

"Hello Niko!" Jessie said. " You look super nice, are you from here? I've never seen you around, do you think this school is cool? I like this school." Jessie continued to talk and Lee cut her off. "Now Jessie, your scaring him!" Lee said laughing. Niko smiled, and nodded to Jessie. " Nice to meet you all." He said.

Bryan glared at Niko. He looks like he wants to kill me, Niko thought wondering why he looked so menacing. "So 'Niko'" Bryan said in a low voice as Lee and Jessie talked, " Where the hell did you come from?" Niko looked at him startled by Bryan's tone. "I'm originally from Maine but I moved here last week." Niko said, trying not to make Bryan any more annoyed then he already seemed.

Bryan smiled suddenly, "Hey want to come with me and a few friends to our hide out after school?" Bryan asked, suddenly seeming less mean. "It's really cool, since your from a woodsy area you could teach us how to climb a tree or something." Bryan said, smirking.

Niko thought for a moment, wondering if Bryan really wanted to be friends or just wanted to rob him. "Well ... I guess for a little while-" "Great!" Bryan said suddenly, almost yelling. " Meet you at the back of the building after school."

The bell rang and Bryan stood up, "See you around." He said, walking away. Jessie stood and scrambled after him, leaving Lee and Niko alone at the table. "Well, I guess you and Bryan are friends now, huh?" Lee said, not hearing the conversation he had with Bryan. "Yeah.." He said, "Friends."
