The days roll by, with my time being occupied by finalising all the planning and conforming all the bookings and things needed to make their engagement party absolutely perfect after all, I pride myself on making everything perfect for the engaged couple so that they will be completely satisfied, free from worries and overall relaxed for this day.
It, therefore, meant that the actual day of the party my schedule was completely filled, with no free time to have negative thoughts occupy my time. My eyes scan over the details for the requirements that Rapunzel was looking for in her engagement party, my tick list making sure that the catering has been scheduled to arrive just before the party, and the list of guests that are due to attend. She specified that she wanted something elegant, in the evening and with lights dotted around to help remind her of lights, and the stars or 'lanterns' as she calls them that she has seen in her homeland every time it is her birthday.
I arrive in front of a gorgeous country house, my eyes lighting up as I take in the way the nature pristine this house and its beautiful features, nature overtaking it but not in a sense that makes it wild but one that enhances the beauty of the old looking house, one that must be laced with history.
My breath is taken away as I remain in pure awe of the place, my dream to always have enough money to afford a home like this, that is secluded and one within nature and all its beauty. After all, the spirits that roam the earth: earth, water, fire, ice, all hold an important significance to me, one that has a sense of power that I can feel flowing in historical looking buildings like this. With much pain, I tear my gaze away knowing that the smoothness of my job will mean the closer I will get to earning money that will eventually get me to be able to save and afford, a house like this.
I walk around the side of the house, going to the garden with my fingers crossed that the catering has arrived, and the decorations are here, in addition to the help, to make the setting into one that Rapunzel dreamed.
My hands linger on the garden fence, my doubts leaving me once I push open the door and see the warm faces of the helpers smile back at me, decorations already in their hand. The caters scuttle their way to placing the food on the table, meaning my signal, of a nod, is the indication for us to get to work.
Hours, after dotting the decorations around the benches, stringing lights up to a metal holder the event has finally been put in place, us stepping back to admire our work, the beauty of it is one that anyone could be proud of. I thank all the helpers, sending them on their way as I pick some flowers, to add a centrepiece to the decorations as a final touch.
The lights illuminate the darkening sky, the lighting replicating stars and lanterns with the dotted lights within the flowers creating beautiful scenery, my proudness swelling in me as I see how it has all come together. It is a beautiful design, and I don't blame Rapunzel for wanting lantern decorations because they genuinely make the setting beautiful, and very unique.
My thoughts get broken up as I hear the door, to the garden, swing open with a great voice, a shrill voice of excitement making my body flare up with one that replicates the amount in the voice.
"Elsie!" I har Anna's voice say, my body instantly swinging around with a huge smile on my face, as I open my arms for her warm embrace. She does the same, running into my arms, her body instantly relaxing into my own, my head resting on top of hers as I breathe in the strawberry scent of her hair, missing the feel of her in my arms.
"It feels like so long since I last saw you," she says, her head looking up to mine, her arms still being tightly clung towards me, clearly not wanting to let herself out of my embrace yet, but now that I have her in my arms I don't ever want to let her go either.
"I know, but I am glad that you are here now," I smile. She pulls away from my embrace, and I smile even though my heart aches slightly to have to let her go. My eyes trail past Anna to see Kristoff stood behind her, he smiles at us two, embracing me in a quick hug as I exchange pleasantries with him as well, before I lead them both to sit on the tables.
"This is beautiful, you've really outdone yourself." She says and I smile, a 'thank you' escaping my lips. As the rest of the guests start swarming into the garden, I guide them to the tables, the mutters of how beautiful the venue looks like, curious to how the wedding will look if the engagement party is as beautiful as it is. I smile at the comments, as I rush around to introduce myself to all the guests and thank them for coming. Once everyone is seated, I find that there is enough time before the engaged couple will arrive, so I slip away to get changed into something less professional and more suitable for the party, after all I am also a bridesmaid and once they arrive my duty is over with until it comes to an end.
I slip on a short, dark blue dress and pair them with a silver clutch, necklace and heels. A touch up of my make-up causes me to feel impressed with my overall appearance, as I twirl in the mirror. I look at my watch, noticing it is almost time that the engaged couple will arrive so I quickly rush downstairs, heading towards the front of the building, outside the entrance to eagerly await their arrival. Although I'm eager to see them both, my stomach can't help but clench in anticipation at the thought of seeing Jack again. The thought of them together, however, causes my stomach to churn in a different way, but I plaster on a wide smile as I await their arrival.
This is my job. I must remember that, and nothing will get in the way, even if I may be fawning over the feelings that Jack makes me feel. His engaged and it'll never happen, but I can't help but wish that maybe, possibly it could.
