Chapter 5

"So what should I do when I see him?Am I supposed to bow or?" Daniel looked over at Julican as they walked side by side down the hallway.
They were going to see the King, Daniel was let out of the infirmary earlier that day & agreed to go.

"You don't need to bow,I wouldn't recommend it,it'll just give him a big head.You just need to answer his questions,whatever they are, then you can leave & go back to where you were staying before everything happened."Julican stared forward the whole time so he didn't see it,but Daniel frowned at that.

He didn't have a place to stay,he was just casually sleeping anywhere & everywhere before.
"Okay,that sounds easy enough..." Sadness laced his voice unintentionally,Julican caught it & looked over at him.

"You'll still be allowed to come to the castle whenever you want,I didn't mean to make it sound like you were being kicked out forever..."He looked forward again,slightly embarrassed at his attempt to be sincere,he rarely did that,so he wasn't good at it.

Daniel looked up at him,he hadn't expected him to say that,he smiled warmly at his friend.
"Thank you,Julican"He whispered before turning forwards once again.

They soon made it to the doors of their destination,the King & his  right hand man were inside waiting for them.

Daniel felt his nerves bounce,he hadn't thought this through,he was meeting the King of hell!Why?He started fidgeting,not knowing what to do with his limbs anymore.

"Humans make him sound so scary,but trust me,he's not.He may be intimidating the first time you meet him,I will give him that,but he's not one you should be nervous to meet.He won't hurt you,so just breath,everything will be okay"Julican patted his shoulder,they stood there for a couple minutes to let Daniel calm down before Julican opened the door & they walked in.

"Oh!There you are Julican!Where have you bee-"A voice called,but stopped as Daniel walked in behind Julican.

"Daniel was let out of the infirmary earlier today,so I went to get him.You did want to meet him after all,didn't you?"Julican used his finger to lift his glasses back up his nose carefully as he spoke calmly.

The voice hummed.
"So,this is the kid you've taken an interest to?"They cooed,Daniel frown,biting his lip,he didn't want to look this person in the eyes.

"Daniel"Julican's voice called him out of his trance,he looked up at him,Julican was already staring at him.

"Yeah?"He tilted his head sideways slightly,he wasn't sure if someone had asked a question or not,he had zoned out.

"Are you alright?"Julican's voice was more hushed,Daniel swallowed his saliva & nodded.

"He's quite average looking,don't you think?What is it about this kid that caught your attention my dear Juli~?"The voice spoke,his comment slightly stung,he knew he was average,he didn't have to be told.

"Well that's rude..."He sighed to himself,Julican looked down at him,he couldn't hold back the small chuckle that silently escaped his lips.Daniel quickly looked up at him,suprised he had actually chuckled at something.
"Did you just...?"He didn't finished that question,instead he smiled & chuckled softly himself.

The King watched the quiet exchange,interested in this kid,he had made Julican laugh,that alone was intriguing,of course he didn't hear what made him laugh.
"What was that you said?"He watched the boys face change from a smile to a frown.

"I said that was rude"He restated, glaring at the ground,the king believed he hadn't even looked at him once yet...he didn't like that.

"Hmm,I guess it was,my apologies. I didn't mean to make you upset" He smirked,Julican looked at him & slightly rolled his eyes at the kings playful behavior.
"So,Julican,you never answered my question"He stared at the demon,waiting for him to answer.

"He's just interesting,that's all.He has a...strange background that I want to know about.He's just the type of person people like to be around.He reminds me on Yawn in that way" Julican stared at the King,his expression blank.

"Interesting.Then him & Yawn should get along well"He smirked, Julican shook his head.

"Maybe they would after awhile, but the difference between Daniel & Yawn in the friend making category is that Daniel doesn't make friends with everyone.He watches people,he sees how they act & react to certain things before making a decision about friendship.I've seen him do it,even if he was trying to hide it,Yawn tries to make friends with everyone.It would take a couple days for them to actually become friends,& that depends on Daniel's choice"Julican pushed his glasses up his nose with his finger as he finished.

Daniel stared at Julican in shock for a minute before smiling at him happily,though he wasn't sure he quite liked being figured out so easily.

"In that regard,he sounds like you, Julican.Perhaps that's another reason he's peeked your interest? Do you see yourself in him?Maybe just a little bit?"The king cooed, Daniel's face fell into one of irritation at the King's teasing.

"I see what you mean by he isn't one to be scared of,I'm kind of ashamed I was nervous earlier..." Daniel whispered to Julican, Julican looked down at the slightly small man & nodded in slight agreement.

Julican was used to the the King's habit of poking fun at people,but he knew Daniel wasn't.Which meant he was prone to react strongly if something too bad was said to him."No,he isn't like me.I admit we have some similarities, but he is his own person,we're different."He stared at the wall behind the king disinterestedly.

"Daniel"The king shifted his gaze to the other man,Daniel gulped, still not looking up.
"You haven't looked up at me this whole time,are you perhaps, scared of me?"He cooed,chuckling to himself,he want to have the boy look him in the eyes,though he didn't know why.

"It's hard to be scared of someone who acts like this..."Daniel was staring at his hands as he quietly popped his fingers.

The king stared at the brunette, not expecting such an answer,he had actually thought that he was scared of him,he didn't expect him to say something like that."What do you mean?Like what?"He stared blankly at the boy,not sure how to feel about the conversation taking this new turn.

Daniel stayed silent for a moment before sighing & slowly looking up at him with a bored look. "Childish"He said,staring into the king bright red eyes.

The king was tan,he had ruby red eyes,his long hair was pitch black, he was thin but tall & muscular. He was quite the looker,though Daniel wouldn't ever say that out loud.He was lounged on his chair as he stared at Daniel,a man stood to his right.

This man was short,he had light brown skin with short bright blond hair,his eyes were sky blue.He was staring at Daniel too, but a big grin was on his face.

"Julican was right,you are quite interesting.I've never seen someone say something like that to me with a straight face"He smirked at the boy,Daniel didn't like that face,he felt like something bad was going to happen now.Maybe he should've just stayed silent...
