Giovonee sat crisscrossed on the couch as Gehizo step foot through the front door. She turned back around to check the time on her hello kitty watch, 9:47. Her sister looked worn out from labor and what labor to be exact? Giovonee didn't know, but whatever it was must've been exhausting.

Giovonee knew better than to ask although she did have the urge to. Nonetheless, the girl turned around and put her full attention back on the tv. A familiar nose yanking scent began to accumulate in the air. Instead of staying to finish watching Dora she simply got up and turned off the tv. She didn't wanna have any part in her sister's antagonizing words - she didn't want any part of the summer memories.

Later that night when Giovonee sat silently in her bed, she thought about calling Jahseh but there'd be no use. Her plump lips hadn't peeped a word since he left and wouldn't be able to do so without making a sound of course. Instead, she lay alone in hopes to drift off to sleep.

Giovonee sat criss-cross apple sauce, enjoying the breeze flowing steadily from the plugged fan sitting on her dresser. Broward county was hot that day. Thermometers boiled, forecasts roared through radios in passing cars, and nobody made an effort to come out of their rooms. The phone in her back pocket buzzed every hour or so. Heatwaves weren't uncommon at all - they weren't uncommon and they weren't much to love. Ever since she woke up she'd been smashing her fingers against her pink switch controller in concentration. "Super Mario Brothers!" had always been her favorite game. Giovonee remembered her first DS, a little black one too. The little doodle messages were her favorite things to make.

Mario had fallen just as another "ding!" popped from the pink phone case once again.

Meanwhile, Jahseh had been strolling through his messages out of boredom when he ran across a game on his phone he'd downloaded for Giovonee. He wondered about her plans for today, so he decided to give her a little check-up. He didn't actually plan on going over anyway. Jahseh was tired, hot, and sweaty from the heatwave. Like any other ghetto household, the air conditioner had chosen that specific day to break down. He couldn't even make the trip if he tried.

(I know it's fake, MOVE!)

(I know it's fake, MOVE!)

Jahseh waited.

He waited.

And he waited.

Still no reply, it kinda made him feel some type of way. Jahseh couldn't do anything but wait for his friends to pick up the phone. They were all either busy or their families had something fun planned for them, Jahseh wishes he had that. A family. Sure, he couldn't forget his little brothers and his sister but to grow a family on his own sounds nice. He always wanted a kid, he'd never be alone again. Every now and then he'd think about the time he finally got the chance. Like anybody with common sense for his age, he declined. Jah may have to reconsider his thoughts...

He turned towards the side of the bed and raised onto his feet. Stretching, the loud backbones popping satisfied him well. The palm of his hands rubbed over his stomach in circles as he walked downstairs in the kitchen, phone in hand.

DING!

Cleo jumped, she didn't know Jahseh had walked downstairs at all. She slightly raised from off the couch to look behind him and when she saw Jahseh, the eyes on her face instantly rolled.

"Jesus boy, you scared me."

"My bad.", he mumbled.

His thumb swiped over his lock pad and pressed over through his messages.

the fuck?

the fuck?

Jahseh sat his phone down on the counter and began searching for something cold to eat. As he opened the freezer, his phone went off again...and then another. Dammit. He should've never brought his phone in there.

"Who's blowing up your phone this early Jahseh?", Cleo asked out of curiosity.

Jahseh would tell her...if things weren't as complicated as they are now.

"Micheal wants me to go to this pool party with him, I don't wanna go."

Cleo figured he was lying from instinct but didn't really think much of it. It had probably been just some female involved being fast, she knew her son.

"Oh."

That "Oh" didn't sound good to Jahseh either. He took his Popsicle and walked speed-walked back upstairs.
