[[So uh,,, I actually havent watched every episode of any version of Moomin. Sooo Im kind of assuming on some things! It might not be accurate in every way]]

Since Adrian and I didn't bring anything with us, it was pretty simple to move in with the Moomins. They let the two of us use the spare room. It had a bunk bed, so of course I battled Adrian for the top bunk and won. The mattresses were impossibly soft, and the blankets were impossibly warm. In fact, from my one night of staying there, I thought that the whole Moomin house was impossibly perfect. The family was incredibly nice, the food was wayyyy too good to be true, and the house was nicely furnished and impeccably clean.

In all honesty, it reminded me of that movie Coraline I watched when I was little. My family hates me, so I get sent to this perfect world. It made no sense, and, like Adrian, I couldnt help but be weary of how off everything felt. I wished I knew what brought us here.

It has only been 2 days since we moved in with the Moomins, but its hard not to get attached to them VERY quickly. Moominpappa has finally started calling us by the correct name, which is a step in the right direction. Moominmamma's an amazing cook- and an even better momma. She always knows when Im really upset or worried. Adrian is always worried about something, so Moominmamma keeps doing things to relax her. She even tried to make Adrian eat some sort of herb, but Adrian politely declined and mouthed "poison!" To me. But she had a smile on her face, and it seemed like the moomins were growing on her.

Especially Moomin himself! Adrian is in awe of him, I think. She would never admit it, of course, but Ive seen the way she treats him like a little brother, and she barely even knows him. She keeps telling him stories of things she did in school and in the city. Moomin always seems amazed- weve found out that these people have no access to modern technology! They still use lanterns, and get their water out of a well, and things like that! Its so surreal, but it makes the whole place that much easier to enjoy. I definitely miss the internet, though. My phone was in my jacket pocket when we came, but it already died after I started taking pictures of everything. Not sure how the Moomin family would react to advanced technology, I keep it hidden in a drawer in mine and Adrian's room. Adrian powered her phine off with 50% battery, and she's saving it for an emergency.

"Breakfast!" Moominmamma's voice rang softly through the house. It smelled like vanilla and firewood, two of the coziest things Ive ever smelt. I hopped out of bed and jogged downstairs to the kitchen, where I saw the Moomin family sitting at the table, plates ready, but no Adrian. I sat down, too, and started to fill my plate like everyone else.

"Have yall seen Adrian?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"She went jogging!" Moomin answered, with an awed curiosity in his eyes.

"Yes, yes, I, too, used to run alllll the time," said Moominpappa, "of course, i could probably pick it back up, but I see no point!" I laughed along with Moominmamma.

"It's been a while since she left, I wonder how far shes gone," said Moominmamma.

"She was the fastest at our school, before we came here. She put a lot of work into running! A mile very morning, and then anywher from 2 to 10 later in the day! I don't know how she does it."

"10 miles?!" Moomin's eyes were wide, "why, I could hardly walk that far!" Just as I finished my breakfast, a sweaty and panting Adrian walked in the door.

"Oh sweet, I made it back just in time!" She said, filling her own plate as the rest of us put our dishes away. She grabbed a fork and then walked out the door, gesturing for me to go with her. I trailed, and sat next to her in the healthy green grass a few feet from the house.

"How was the run?" I asked.

"It was nice to get back into it. But it was more of a perimeter check, to be honest."

"Oh. Well... what'd you see?"

"A couple more houses. Theres a river down that way," she pointed to the west, where the trees grew thicker, "but not much else."

"Yeah... this place seems so excluded. I have no idea where to find out where we are, much less get back home."

"Me neither. Maybe we should ask someone for some kind of map."

"Oh!" I exclaimed a little louder than I should've, "Moominpappa used to sail! He must be able to help!" Adrian quickly shovelled down the last of her food, hopping up quickly to run inside.

We found Moominpappa in his study, leaning his head on his hand and almost asleep. Our entrance startled him up and out of his chair. "Oh! Hello girls," he smiled.

"Hi there Moominpappa," I said "sorry to bother you, but we were wondering if you had any maps?"

"Maps? Why, of what, dear?" He said, meandering over to a cabinet that I assumed had the maps we were asking about.

"Um... Moomin valley. Or I guess the world, if you could show me where Moomin valley's AT." I said, rubbing the back of my hand and giving an awkward smile. Moominpappa rifled through the rolled up papers on the top shelf, which he had trouble reaching. He pulled out a few, laid them down, and spread one on the table. It was a large body of land, sort of shaped like Italy. Moominpappa pointed to the tip of the land, a mostly flat plain with ocean and forest surrounding it. There was a small mountainous area a ways into the forest.

"This area is moomin valley. Theres the river a ways from our house, and past it is the forest. Right here is a beautiful beach, but everywhere else we touch the sea is very rocky. Inside the forest is the mountains, we only visit there occasionally. This map is... a little old. I havent ventured far past the mountain range since I was a much younger Moomin. Its a lot more woodsy out that way, and theres a few villages. It snows up there while its sunny down here," Moominpappa said. I think he was mostly lost in his thoughts, because he wasnt looking up and it seemed like he was talking to himself.

"It can't be that far apart, how is the weather completely the opposite uo there?" Adrian said, "thats like the difference between america and australia!"

"I dont know what those places are," Moominpappa said, "but i couldnt describe the weather to you. Im no scientist! I believe the Snork said it had something to do with the huge mountain range in the middle of the Island."

"Who's the Snork?" Adrian asked

"Why, he's the second smartest person in Moomin valley! Hes got much more scientific smarts than me, but I'm older and much more well read than him, sadly!" Moompappa said, puffing out his chest.

I muffled a laugh. "So, where on the globe is Moomin valley?" I asked.

"Well, Im not sure! We've only made the journey to islands and back, I dont believe I could ever complete a map! But here's one of everything we know about so far!" Moominpappa unravelled another map. On this one, the island of Moominvalley was the biggest, but there were many more little islands and dots scattered across the paper. Some were in old ink, they looked printed. Others seemed like they had been drawn on by hand, and in multiple people's handwriting. Unfortunately, there was nothing I recognized.

"Um... thank you Moominpappa. We appreciate the help," I said, forcing my mudcles into a polite smile. Moominpappa tipped his hat and began putting his maps away, back into his collection. Adrian and I walked out of his office and into the living room, where we sat on opposite ends of the couch.

"I.... dont think we actually are on Earth anymore," Adrian spoke at last, "at least, not our earth."
