Chapter 3: Lullaby

"Trapped. Forever," I repeated. I lifted my hand to trace the writing on the glass until I noticed that my hands were trembling with... fear.

Ever since I was trapped in this room, I tried to keep calm and tried to find a way to get out of here. But now that I know cannot leave here, all hope was lost. Fear started to creep up on me and all I want to do is to roll inside a blanket and wait for the nightmares to stop.

The problem is I don’t have a freaking blanket and I know deep inside that they would never stop.

“Then that would only mean that this is just nothing but a nightmare,” I told myself in a shaky voice. “Just a nightmare… Just a nightmare… Just a nightmare…” I repeated those words over and over again. I sat down on the cold floor and hugged my knees as I rocked back and forth.

Tears fell down on my face as the message in the glass sank deeper into me. Being alone and imprisoned in a dark and scary room is bad but knowing that you could never get out is worse. I buried my head on my knees as I started sobbing.

“I just want to get out of here,” I sobbed. Then I raised my head and looked at the tiny light at the other end of the room. It was beckoning me to come closer. I stood up and started to walk towards it, knowing that it’s the only way to get out of here.

I managed to take a few steps forward. I looked behind me to see if there’s anything there. Thankfully, there was none. I sighed with relief and continued to walk towards the light.

Just then, the jingle of metal caught my ear. Turning around, I saw the manacles on the left began to float and came hurtling towards me. I screamed and tried to run away but the room wasn’t as small as I thought and I don’t seem to move at all. Finally, the manacles got hold of me and locked up my wrists. The chains jingled as it started to pull me backward and away from the light and into the darkness. I screamed and fought but it was in vain. The chains were pulling me with ease as if I’m just a mere rag doll. It stopped pulling me when I was finally locked up and had my back on the wall. I tried to get out but it was useless and the metal was wounding my wrists.

I closed my eyes in despair and opened them once again when I heard something metallic being dropped on the floor. Looking down, I saw that it was a tiny black key. Though I’m not sure if it’s the right key, I still tried to get it by stretching down my legs as far as I could to reach the key.

After my foot got hold of the key, I dragged it towards me by pulling my foot. After picking it up with my toes, I raised my right foot up to my head and I was grateful that I did some gymnastics when I was young.

I carefully picked the lock with the key that I got. At the sound of the lock being unlocked, the manacles sprung open and released my hands.

After silently murmuring a prayer of thanks to whoever gave me the key, I stood up and started to walk towards the light. A minute passed and nothing creepy happened to me yet, except for some spiders falling down from the ceiling and landing on top of my head.

As I trudged along towards the light, a child’s voice singing a lullaby suddenly filled the whole room. I stopped and listened to the song. The melody was filled with sadness, longing and grief.

O, why do you have to
Leave me all alone
Here inside the dark
With no one else

I never did anything wrong
To make you leave
Tears start to fall
From my sweet eyes

Your tender hug
Your sweet kiss
Everything about you
Make me so complete

But now you’re gone
Those things that once
Used to be
The reasons to make me smile
Now makes me cry

Without knowing, tears suddenly start to fall from my eyes upon hearing the song. It perfectly describes my situation right now.

“Did you like the song?” a child’s voice asked me.

“Yes, I did,” I answered automatically. I opened my eyes wide with fright and looked around me to see who spoke. Then I heard some noise behind me. I looked behind and saw something hurtling towards me.

It was some sort of rope that came zooming towards me and eventually wrapping my whole body. I couldn’t move my body since it was so tight. I looked down and examined the thing that was wrapped around me. It was some sort of thin dark strings. And after looking at it more closely, I realized that it was actually hair.

I tried to get out but like I said earlier, it was too tight. Then I suddenly felt someone hugging me from behind. My eyes were wide open with fright as two small pale hands began to hug me from behind.

“I have been waiting for you,” the child behind me said. My whole body trembled with fear as she hugged me more tightly.  I held my breath after deciding not to say anything.

After a few moments of silence, she removed her hands from my body but the hair was still binding me. I struggled to get free but it was useless. A silhouette of a small child was walking towards me as the lullaby began playing again. The melody was still the same but the lyrics were not.

O, now that you’re here
Finally all mine
I can finally say
The words I never got to tell

I’ll never let you go
Forever you’ll be mine
And if you try to escape
You will be hurt

Blood pouring from
Wounds I created on you
Your pink flesh tearing away
At every bite I take

You’ll never get out
Imprisoned here forever
Since I love you
This much

My whole body trembled with fear as the child came closer to me. Her face was worse than the girl from the mirror. Her face was all pale and bloody. Her left eyeball was missing and from the bloody empty eye socket, veins were hanging from it. The other eye was bulging and alarmingly big. Her nose was broken and the nostrils were big and flaring. Scars filled her whole face. There was long gash across her left cheek and blood was pouring down from it. Her lips were chapped and I realized too late that it was her hair that was binding me.

I struggled to get free as she came even closer. My heart throbbed uncontrollably. When she was finally near me, she smiled and her mouth showed razor sharp teeth dripping with blood.

“You can’t go into the light,” she said. Then her neck did a 180 degree turn that made my insides squeamish.

I closed my eyes with dread. When I opened my eyes, I saw her face only a few centimeters away from mine.

“I love you…” she whispered. “Do you love me too?”

A/N: If I were in the girl's position I'll shout "HELL NO" at the creepy girl LOL

The song here is in the tune of "Kiss The Rain" and I made the lyrics myself :) Liked it? Ohoho~

The next update will be late, I guess...
