han jisung.
again, it happened again. my parents were arguing about their business like any other day, and it was pouring heavily outside, not to mention the lightning strikes and thunder rumbling that i would hear every two minutes.
i sighed to myself as i picked up my umbrella and sneaked out through the window in my room. i didn't know where to go to escape this. my eyes were filled with tears and the tears were about to fall any second now.
i sniffed as i wiped my tears with my hands, before seeing a packet of tissues land on the ground in front of me. is heaven trying to help me because they pity me or something?
i bent down to pick the pack of tissues up and looked around. there was no one to be found, but where exactly did these come from?
i shrugged my shoulders as i took a tissue and wiped my tears, then starting to walk again.
i walked to the same alley the girl had found me when i was a child and sat there. it wasn't the first time i had been there and waited for her during downpours, but she never came, and i wasn't expecting her to come today.
i sighed as i looked ahead and saw children jumping in puddles of water, having the time of their lives as they plastered huge smiles on their faces.
"be careful, you never know what could happen," i muttered under my breath as i saw a child who seemed lost.
i stood up and approached her, but she looked taken aback, so i tried my best to seem gentle to her. "hi, little girl, are you lost?" i asked her reassuringly like the young girl did to me when i was younger.
she nodded her head after hesitating for awhile, and eventually spoke up. "my mom said that she would get something from home and she would come back soon and left me here, but i don't have an umbrella and it's cold out here," she stuttered as she shivered.
i offered her my umbrella and used my jacket to cover her. "here, you can keep yourself warm while waiting for your mother," i smiled as i felt raindrops land on my head.
"thank you, uncle!" i froze upon hearing the word 'uncle', but soon after smiled at her as she walked back to the bench she was sitting at.
i felt cold under the rain, and as i saw lightning strike once again, i braced myself for it. a rumble of thunder was heard as i covered my ears, a tear sliding down my cheeks as i tried to calm myself down.
"han jisung!" i heard someone call my name.
i looked up and saw a girl holding an umbrella, then using it to shelter me. "are you insane? sitting in the cold rain without an umbrella?"
"y-you," i paused.
"are you-" she cut me off.
"you could've caught a cold," she worried, offering me a hand as she pulled me up to stand.
"m-min-" she cut me off once again.
"look at that," she pointed to the rainbow as the rain began to lighten into a drizzle.
"who are you?" i asked, before looking at the rainbow that covered the landscape.
"just someone," she smiled.
"woah," i looked at the rainbow in awe as i turned back to look at her, but before i knew it, she was gone, and the only thing she left me was the umbrella.
who was she? was that the same girl who helped me when i was young? i had an inner monologue before looking back at the rainbow and admiring its beauty.
