"Hey, you alright?"
I heard a voice behind the door of my room. Probably from Rick.
I just woke up, I must have slept from all the crying. The room was dark, I glanced at the wall clock which was hanging on the wall. 7:30 PM."Hey, Mae?" I sat on the floor which I was laying earlier. I reached out for the lock and unlocked it.
"It's open." I moved a little farther giving space for the door to open.
My brother entered the room and sat beside me. The light of the lamp post from the window hits directly to our faces.
"What's wrong?" He confronted me. I can see worry and pity in his eyes. I really don't deserve a brother like him, he's to kind and I'm.... I'm a failure.
"N-nothing's wrong." My voice cracked.
"Did you cry?" He looked directly to my eyes as if he's reading my thoughts. "Your eyes are puffy."
"I did.." I replied.
He sighed and pulled me to a hug. "I understood. Just let them be."
He meant our parents. He was shaking, I can sense that he was crying. I can't hold my tears any longer so I let it out. We both cried together. Minutes later we calmed down, we shared thoughts and tell stories.
"Look Mae. You're not alone."
"What do you mean?"
"You're too young to understand but soon, you will." He smiled.
I smiled back, even though I don't know what he meant.
"How about I'll cook pancakes for breakfast. Yeah?"
"Oh gosh. I'll help!"
"Sure."
The next day, it was 9 in the morning, we both woke up late after all the dramatic scenes we made last night. Our parents went out earlier for their business so me and Rick made pancakes.
"Hmm.. I smell something delicious." We both turned to look and saw brother John from the staircase, still wearing his pajamas.
"Pleasant morning brother-mine" I greeted him while mixing the pancake mix me and Jack bought last week.
"So to you sister-mine" we both giggled.
"What's up?" Jack popped out of nowhere.
"Pancakes. Wanna try?" Rick served the pancakes on a plate and of course we won't forget the chocolate syrup.
I handed the mix to Rick so that he could make more, those weren't enough me, I could eat dozens of pancakes.
We all sat at the dining table and enjoy the delicious taste of pancakes with a touch of yummy chocolate syrup, who wouldn't?
"I was planning to cook bacons for breakfast but you guys made pancakes." Said John.
"You should've told me." Rick.
"Shut up. Pancakes are better." Jack.
"Oh really?" John.
"Then hand me your pancakes if you disgaree." Jack.
"Why would I?" John.
"You said bacons are better." Jack.
"I didn't!" John.
"You did." Jack.
"Shut up, both of you." Rick.
They're sure are immature but whenever you need them they would be here in just a blink of an eye. I would really treasure these guys. Rick is the eldest, next to Jack, then John then me. I just giggled at the sight of them arguing and listening to their verbal battle.
