"A TOAST TO CHASE and his big, big muscles for saving the day!" Cher shouted cheerfully, or as she liked to put it, cher-fully (which Justine would definitely sigh and roll her eyes at if she said that out loud).
They had gotten ice cream at a local ice cream shop right after school, all barely fitting into a booth set neatly in the corner of the shop. As the Davenports, Cher, and Justine toasted to Chase's victory with their ice cream cups, Adam blinked in confusion. "What do you mean? Chase can barely hold a teacup with his little baby hands," he mentioned, Chase throwing an offended look his way.
Cher chuckled. "I was joking," Cher affirmed, "but seriously, Chase, thanks for that back there. The football team can be absolute jerks and creeps sometimes, so that meant a lot for you to stand up for me like that. But, I'm pretty sure you're going to get hunted down by them for pudding popping the team. That was pretty legendary though."
While Chase seemed embarassed, he slightly beamed at Cher's words which made her even happier to see. But it was quickly cut off by Adam wrapping his arm around Chase's head and giving Chase a short noogie. "Aw, look at little Chase-y, being a hero!" Adam cooed.
Chase shoved Adam off of him. "Stop!" he shouted, but Adam continued to make cooing noises, causing Chase to shove Adam off of his seat.
Adam got back up easily, but a slight frown was on his face. "Hey! You almost made me drop my extra sprinkle chocolate brownie double fudge sundae!" he shouted, angrily eating his ice cream, but soon fading back into his normal happy-go-lucky demeanor.
Cher couldn't help but laugh at the brothers' antics. "Are they always like this?" Cher questioned Bree.
Bree nodded. "Normally worse. And more violent." she mentioned nonchalantly.
Cher answered Bree with an amused hum, twirling her spoon around before eating the ice cream.
Chase fidgeted while eating, his confidence from earlier in the day clearly mostly diminished. "I'm just worried about what happened is all. What if I get beaten up by Trent and the football team? What if they steal my homework? Or worse, I get expelled?" he worried.
"Hold your horses, Hermione Granger. You're not getting expelled." Justine answered.
Again? Cher thought. "It's the Harry Potter references for me," Cher muttered.
"It's the neverending puns for me," Justine responded. Cher jutted her own spoon at Justine and squinted, arching a slight brow at her, with Justine only smiling and blowing a kiss in return.
"I'll throw my ice cream at you," Cher threatened.
"Not smart, I'd just eat it," Justine retaliated.
"Ooh, can you give me some of it," Adam added, an excited puppy-like smile on his face.
Justine turn to Adam with a bright grin, "'Course, I can," she replied, causing Adam to only beam wider.
Chase, however, was anything but happy. "Guys! I'm seriously worried about this! What do you guys think is going to happen to me? Do I have to move into the Witness Protection Program?" he feared.
"No, you might get pantsed by an angry twelfth grader though." Bree offered, sending a fake-kind smile his way much to Chase's chagrin.
Leo finally looked up from his smartphone, patting Chase on the back. "Hey, don't worry about it. You got me, the L Dool to protect you. And besides, no one is going to even touch you right now. You're like the king right now!"
Chase eyed him with curiosity. "Really?" he asked.
Cher butted into the conversation, "I wouldn't say King, but you've definitely made an impression. Honestly, if it wasn't for Principal Perry always trying to keep her football players happy, I wouldn't be worried."
