Chapter Fourteen -

Take Me Home

[_]

"Noah?" I breathe, making sure it was him, or if I was dreaming, and when I see a small, relieved smile grace his lips, I know I'm not. But, all I could do was stare, baffled, but clearly happy.

When I notice I was practically standing there, most likely even drooling, I step aside, ushering him to come inside, and he does, slowly walking in and looking around, a ghost of a smile on his lips.

As I walk past him, he catches my upper arm in his hand, and I slightly spin around, staring at him in alarm. His face is close to mine, and I can feel his warm, minty breath blowing across my face, making my skin tingle.

"Come home with me," he whispers, leaning in as to where our noses are touching, and my eyes widen in surprise, and I try to escape, but he just holds on tighter.

"Please, Dani. I can't live without you," his voice trembles, and I look down, at both of our feet, watching the slight outline of my toes curl under my fuzzy socks.

"You did for 2 years," I mumble, and he freezes, and when he tightens his grip, I flinch a little bit, and look up to see his eyes clenched tightly shut, his jaw set.

"That's because I knew you were somewhere in the world," he says calmly, blowing out a small breath through clenched teeth.

I keep my mouth shut in a grim line, not knowing how to respond to that. I gnaw on my lower lip, and he quickly places his two fingers, grabbing my lower lip in between them, then lets go, and I stare up at him in confusion.

"Don't do that," he grumbles, and I nod, fighting the urge to do it again.

He finally lets go, and I scurry into the kitchen, and he follows slowly behind me, grumbling profanities under his breath.

"Want anything? Hot chocolate? Coffee? Tea? Mi--" He stares at me with amusement dancing in his eyes, and that was what shut me up, him actually looking happy.

"No, I only want you."

I stop what I'm doing, my eyes, once again, widening in surprise.

"Stop that," I hiss, rubbing my temples with my fingers, a headache slowly entering my head.

"But it's true, Danielle. I need you, with me, back at home. Where you damn well belong," he whispers sadly, and I hear him sniffle a couple times, and I frown, wondering if he was actually serious.

I ignore him, hoping he would just leave some time, very soon, hopefully. I leave the kitchen, hearing footsteps following behind me, and I curse under my breath, walking faster to the living room.

"Noah, please leave and go home," I mumble when I sit down, and he plops down right next to me, staring at me. Almost...analyzing me.

"No," he protests calmly, not moving his attention from my face.

"What do you want?" I ask after a moment of silence, and he stays quiet, and I sigh, almost ready to shove him out the door.

Finally, he speaks, and what he says next makes me want to scream in joy, yet also in anguish.

"I want you."

I sigh, once again, and bury my face in my hands, clenching my teeth, not surprising myself by slightly nipping my tounge on accident. I hiss lowly, slightly flicking my fingers together, for some odd reason.

"Dani, just-- listen to me, okay?" He asks, placing a hand on my shoulder, and I don't bother to shake it off.

"Okay," I whisper, almost biting my lip again in nervousness.

"When you left that day, I cried. And I never fucking cry. And wanna know what I did after crying? I cried again, and again, and- guess what? Again," he takes a deep breath, and a tear slips out, and his cheeks flush red.

"People actually tried comforting me, but I pushed them away. Why? 'Cause I wanted you there, to comfort me. Not anyone else, you. Only you. And after a month or two, I started traveling everywhere, because I saved up money just to go travel, going places so I could find you. Two years of getting lost, anger, and frusturation, I finally found you. In this city, that's so damn busy, I nearly got myself killed looking for you."

He stops there, because he starts sobbing, and I slowly, put my arms around him, hugging him close to me.

"I love you, Dani, I do," he whispers, running a hand through my hair. He buries his face in my hair, holding me closer, and I feel his tears soaking my locks, and I ignore it, just focusing on what I was about to say next.

"I love you too, Noah."

He looks up at me, placing his forehead against mine, and I close my eyes, savouring the feel of his skin against mine.

"Does that mean you'll allow me to take you home? With me?" He murmurs, slowly kissing my nose, and my cheeks, slowly making his way down to my lips. He hovers over my lips, waiting for my answer.

Finally, I respond, my voice strong with emotion, "Yes."

And he closes the gap between us.

When I wake up, I'm lying on the couch, my eyes drooping.

But, the reason I woke up was because of yelling, screaming, and tons of cuss words being thrown out.

"She's leaving, and that's final!" I can tell that is Noah's voice, and he's angry. Very angry.

"Leaving my ass!" I gulp when I hear my fathers' voice. And his is also angry. Very angry.

I slowly lift myself up from the couch, and stand up, wringing my hands together nervously, watching them fight, not knowing what to say or do.

"Danielle!" my father yells, fixing his deadly glare at me, and I nearly squeak with surprise. He looks incredibly enraged.

"Y-yeah?" I stutter quietly, and he glares at me while Noah looks at me calmly, not trying to scare me. And I am thankful for that.

"You're not leaving, don't listen to this bastard of a boyfriend you have," he growls, clenching his fists.

"I am leaving, father," I whisper inaudibly, shifting from one foot to the other. Noah nods, taking one look at my father before grabbing my hand and quickly, running to the door, forgetting my dad's yells of protest, and as he drags me with him, I stumble a few times before he slows down.

"We're leaving? Just like that?" I ask him, out of breath.

"Yeah, you need to be rebellious for once, Dani," Noah says calmly, and I grimace, noticing I was in my pajama's and haven't brushed my teeth or hair. Gross.

"What about my clothes? Belongings?" I ask, panicked.

"Forget it, I can buy you new ones."

"But--" I protest weakly, but he shakes his head, a smirk rising up onto his lips.

"Do you want to face your father again?" He asks casually, and my eyes widen. I shake my head furiously and he grins.

"Just take me home, Noah."
