The past 3 years were difficult for Dong Hua, and today's events were no exception. He had cleared his itinerary when Si Ming briefed him about the details of Jiuer's coronation ceremony. He'd done his best to avoid thinking about Jiuer, by helping Heaven Lord sort out various political matters. However, much of his assistance to Heaven Lord was subconsciously done for Jiuer's benefit, he admitted to himself.
He knew all too well how heavy her responsibilities and burdens would be from this day forward. He always knew this day would come, but he didn't anticipate that it would happen so soon, he thought to himself as he neatly arranged the fabric of his robe. Dong Hua had chosen to wear white today in part to mourn for the ill-fated love he shared with Fengjiu, and to symbolically mark the end of her innocence, and the beginning of her legacy and endeavors as Quing Qiu's Queen. Oh, how he wished he could be by her side today! He pulled out the copper mirror, he often used to look at her. As he gazed in the mirror, his eyes lit up as he saw Jiuer standing on the stage addressing the crowd. The sun made her look even more radiant. Her jet black hair was piled into a bun, and held by the ruby hair ornaments that sparkled in the sun. Even the phoenix birthmark on her forehead seemed to glow, against the backdrop of her ivory skin. When she moved, the sun captured the richness of the scarlet dress, making her look like a bright red flame. The dress hugged the contours of her full breasts, and curvaceous hips. In his eyes, she was flawless, and she exuded maximum confidence and all the poise befitting of the queen he knew he would see standing before him today. As he looked on, he became intrigued as a large group of young men began lining up after she concluded her speech, to present their gifts to the newly crowned queen.
One after the other was announced, greeted with a nod and politely dismissed with a few words of gratitude. Dong Hua continued to watch the expression on Jiuer's face as she greeted the men eager to vie for her affections while bolstering their political ambitions through an alliance with the queen. She was measured and consistent in her responses, which gave off a vibe of aloofness and detachment. None of the men seemed to notice, but Dong Hua didn't miss a trick. He smirked as this happened repeatedly until the line dwindled. Then came the moment he'd been waiting for. Migu announced Si Ming's arrival and the men who recently departed from the line, turned around, wondering about the purpose of the Star Lord's visit. Fengjiu's eyes became slightly animated, but she remained composed as she stood frozen in position. Si Ming stepped forward to present the map of the Realms, on Dong Hua's behalf. "Greetings Your Higness, I am pleased to be here today to extend my well wishes. I am also here to present a gift to you on Emperor Lord's behalf. He has given you a map of the Realms, as it existed during his reign. He received word of your coronation, but was unable to attend today's ceremony. However, he wishes to congratulate you, and wishes you well in your future endeavors." Si Ming said as the map magically appeared. "Qing Qiu thanks Your Grace for his visit ", Jiuer said as she bowed. "Your Grace, did Emperor Lord's gift come with any other messages?" Fengjiu calmly asked. "Emperor Lord told me that when you look at the map, everything will be clear and you will understand," Si Ming replied. "Qing Qiu also thanks His Highness for his generosity, and it is Qing Qiu's hope to maintain a strong alliance for generations to come," as she bowed again.
Dong Hua smiled as he heard her words and continued to look on. As the crowd witnessed the exchange, murmurs were heard about the gift, its historical significance and Dijun's motives for bestowing such a priceless treasure to the girl. The young men were visibly astonished, as they were still trying to return to their seats. They were left wondering about the significance of the queen's words, and the depth of the queen's relationship with Heaven's highest ranking immortal.
After seeing this, Dong Hua was pleased and sighed to himself as the mirror magically disappeared. It was comforting to know she still had him in her heart, and placed him above all others. Her eyes revealed and confirmed what he believed in his heart....there's still time. He knew his gift to Fengjiu would cause a bit of controversy, but he didn't care. He was the king of shade and misdirection. On its face, the map was a piece of history anyone would be honored to have. It was more impressive and valuable than anything anyone could give, because it was personal. It was a subtle shade thrown to her prospective suitors. He rolled his eyes, as he thought about the inferiority of Jiuer's prospective suitors. He was an extraordinary military tactician, supreme in accomplishments and wisdom. Dong Hua wrote the book on what it means to be a champion, before they were a figment of their parent's imagination. They were beneath her, and they wouldn't cherish her the way he would, he thought. The gift was also a subtle reminder to Jiuer. Although time passes and things change, his feelings for her haven't. He hoped when she looked at the map, she would understand the real message. He stood up, adjusted his sleeves, clutched the red fox tail charm attached to his waist and walked to the atrium.
