"Is everything ready for the party tonight?"
"Yes, dear."
"Are you positive, Charlotte?"
"Yes, dear."
Flustered Henry was even more flustered than normal as the couple scurried about the institute. Charlotte couldn't help but hold back soft, lighthearted laughter towards her husband's expense. It was about this level of worry for him every time some important event happened, and she found it absolutely adorable and endearing.
"Don't laugh at me," He protested half-heartedly, "I am simply showing my concern and support for your Christmas gathering. Who is all coming, again?"
"Just all the Shadowhunters and half the Downworld," Charlotte teased, making the poor man groan.
"Tell me when the ordeal is over," He sighed out, hurrying down the steps to his study just as the guests began gathering at the doorbell. Charlotte fluffed her dress and opened the door gracefully, lightly bowing her head in greeting to each and every figure who came through the door. Giggles, laughter, and chatter began to fill the corridors of the institute. The young woman made sure to be courteous and show a high level of a grateful attitude to each individual, though her worries continuously drifted off for her husband. Eventually, she could not stand it any longer and excused herself to visit him inside the workshop.
"Henry, darling?" Charlotte inquired, knocking lightly on the door. He spun around, a smile stretching across his face as he saw his wife in such beautiful Christmas attire.
"Charlotte, you look even more wonderful in the light of the workshop," Henry cooed, standing up to entwine his arms around her in a protective manner, "I am thankful that you came to me as you did. Look at what I have for you. Do you like it?" On the workshop desk was a little robotic heart, ticking along as a real heartbeat would. She gasped softly and cupped it in her hands, examining every minuscule detail with wonderment.
"Oh, Henry," Charlotte sighed out, "How romantic. This is gorgeous~! How ever did you come up with such a meticulous contraption?" As her husband began to explain each little step that he took in creating the gift for her, she listened with her full attention on him and only him. A loud knocking came from the door, startling them from the romantic enchantment of the evening.
"Hello?" A familiar voice questioned, "Are you two canoodling in there? Should I come back another time?" With a hot blush streaking across her face, Charlotte opened the door with an indignant puff. Standing there, in a sparkling blue suit, was the warlock: Magnus Bane.
Magnus snickered as he was lightly hit upside the head with a fan. "Feisty~" He teased with a smirk, "Henry? How did you get such a feisty young lady on your hands?"
"What do you want, Magnus?" Henry questioned, coming to his wife's side with a red face.
"Oh, nothing. Just to tell you that Will must have had too much eggnog tonight and is now coercing Tessa to dance on the table with him," The warlock replied in a nonchalant tone.
"Will is--- Will!" Charlotte screeched, stomping up the stairs with her poor husband following.
Of course, Magnus's statement was true as onlookers watched with amused laughter. Tessa looked mortified as Will danced her around the table, laughing drunkenly with a wild grin. Immediately, the institute's owner tugged Will away by his ear, leaving her husband to awkwardly apologize to a baffled and humored crowd.
"Poor Henry. Always having his romance interrupted by William's shenanigans," Magnus snorted, before walking away with a cup in his hand to go chat with some lovely lady in the corridor.
