warning: this chapter is slightly more mature than the others, as it is about a game of 7MIH; it isn't explicit, though, and does not go any further than a simple kiss scene.

You were sitting in the middle of the party, playing with your hair. The Institute had decided to play a game of 7 Minutes In Heaven, though the rules made it clear that it was only to be kissing and that those who were taken had to have made their partners aware of the game and were playing by Spin The Bottle rules instead.

Magnus Bane was one of those partners, and you couldn't help but secretly hope his bottle would land on you or vice versa. You had a lot of respect for Alec as a person; he was a great Shadowhunter and seemed to be good for the warlock. That being said, he'd been the one to allow his boyfriend to play the game, so it was only fair that others could hope to kiss him. Bane was one of the hottest people in the game, of course.

When it came to Maia's turn, however, her bottle landed on Magnus instead. Alec puffed out softly and snuggled into his boyfriend, nudging him a little. You weren't sure what that was about, but he didn't seem to be protesting it. I still have a chance, you thought to yourself, though you were a bit jealous of the werewolf girl. To your shock, however, Magnus grabbed the bottle and moved it so that it was pointing towards you instead.

"That's not fair," She responded indignantly, face going pink, "You only did that because.." You knew what she was thinking. You were bisexual, and you also made it known that you had a crush on Maia. Magnus beamed to himself and offered a simple shrug, grabbing both of you by the arms and pushing you into the closet.

"I hope you know that Magnus did that for a reason. He knows the truth, and he decided to be an asshole about it. I didn't reject you when you asked me out because I didn't like you, you know," Maia grumbled as soon as the two of you got into the closet together, "I do like you. You're.. Cute, okay? But I'm not really used to this whole dating thing, or this whole kissing thing, or anything about love. So I'm going to suck at it and would rather not subject you to that."

You were a bit taken aback. Maia liked you? You were a little flustered but nodded softly in agreement to her. "I.. That's good to know. I'm kind of glad he did that, because you know what? I don't really care how bad of a dater or kisser you are. I like you for who you are, Maia," You whisper gently. The other girl goes quiet, looking to the side as you put a hand to her cheek.

"Can I kiss you?" You ask gently, gazing down at her.

"Yeah, whatever. Go for it, you know?" She's smiling, and you smile back, glad that this turned out to be better than expected. You gently push her up against the wall, finding her lips with yours. Despite what she said, she's quite a good kisser, and you find yourself almost melting into it. As you go to kiss her deeper, she gently pulls back.

"You know, I think we should wait.." She hums, though her tone is clearly teasing as she peaks up at you, "I don't think you really like me after all."

"Hey, don't joke around. We've only got 7 minutes to work with," You laugh lightly, nudging her.

"Uh-huh, right," She snickers, and she's the one to kiss you this time. Time seems to slip away as you kiss one another, and you lightly move your hands down to her lower back. She promptly puts them back on her upper back, giving you a playfully scolding look before continuing to run her hands through your hair.

Maia suddenly broke the kiss. "You know, I think the time is almost up. How long have we been in here again?" She questioned, looking worried. She didn't want to make people assume anything.

You laughed a little, and felt around for your phone, though she was still up against the wall. Suddenly, the door is thrown open by Jace, who's caught in a fit of laughter. "Oh man! Look at the lovebirds~ Magnus was right, you two are all over each other. Guess I owe him 20 bucks now."

Maia went bright red and quickly slipped out from under your arms, protesting, "You're not supposed to bet on people! I'm gonna kill both of you; I swear!"

"Hey, calm down," You laugh lightly, patting her head as you fix your hair a bit, "We'll get them back later." You give Jace and Magnus an evil look, to which they exchange worried glances with one another. Maia grins a little and nods in agreement, patting you on the back as the two of you joined up with the rest of the group.

Though you didn't get your kiss with Magnus as you had been hoping for in the beginning, things went much better than you possibly could have predicted. As you watch the others take their turns playing the game, Maia reaches over and holds your hand with a knowing smile.
