Cliffhangers. So sorry about the long wait y'all. The long time interval between us was too much for me to bear. Anyways, enough dramatics. Enjoy the story!

Faith and I were still walking towards Ms. Laura's house. We were going to reach the place in about seven minutes. The whole time we walked, we were quiet. I'm not going to lie the silence was bugging me but I had no idea how to have a conversation, let alone start one!

I glanced to the side to see Faith with a thoughtful expression on her face. I shifted my gaze back at the sidewalk. To shake off the uncomfortable silence, I listened to the sound of our feet walking along the pavement. It kind of helped but the tension was still thick and heavy. It was almost suffocating. I let out an internal grunt and mustered up enough courage to strike up a friendly conversation.

"H-hey, Faith." She flinched at the sound of her name being called. She turned and looked at me.

"What's your.. favorite color?" She looked confused for a second but it quickly turned into an amused expression.

"Why is that relevant right now?" She said with a playful expression on her face.

"L-look I can't think of any conversation ideas right now so this is all I've got!" I exclaimed with embarrassment.

"Okay okay, no need to get flustered." She snickered. I swear almost everyone I meet wants to make fun of me.

"It's lavender by the way." She smiled while I nodded my head, afraid of something stupid exiting my mouth.

And thus concluded our exchange of words, allowing a choking silence to come forth and into our ambulating feet. Okay maybe that was a little too dramatic of a sentence but hey, I can't help it. It seemed like a perfect time for me. I chuckled silently at my train of thought that made Faith look over to me.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing. Just thought about something." I kept my gaze in front of me.

Using my peripheral vision, I saw Faith quirk an eyebrow but didn't comment. She returned her attention to the cemented path. It went on like that during the whole walk to Ms. Laura's house. Small talk here and there and the occasional silence. Soon enough we reached our destination.

In front of us was your everyday, average house. It was an average two stories high and had an average-sized porch with a very average-sized driveway that held an everyday average car. There was an average-sized front yard with an averaged garden filled with average-looking flowers that I couldn't identify. The house was painted with a slightly less average teal and white combo which made the house stand out just a tad bit. Other than that, the house seemed to be all in all: Average.

We walked up to the house and stepped onto the porch. We were both about to enter the home when suddenly the painted white door opened with a small squeak. Out came a middle-aged, slightly short, and a stubby African-American woman. Ms. Laura.

Her brown hair was cut to be shoulder-length and colored a not-so-average teal at the tips. She was wearing a hilarious grey apron that said 'Your opinion wasn't in the recipe'. I snickered slightly at that. She wore a white blouse and black sweatpants with a very fitting pair pineapple of flip flops on her feet.
