Warriors Novella Set: She-Cats of the Lake

Chapter 5

Recently, Fallenrain has been with Redclaw all the time, except when he's on patrols. She loves that she is able to do this with him again, but Redclaw just wants it all to end.

"Get off me!" Redclaw grumbles as Fallenrain lays on top of them as their clanmates are sleeping in the nests around them.

"No," Fallenrain responds. "Your fur is soft," she mumbles, rubbing her face against his back fur. Redclaw lets out a sigh.

"Can you leave me be at least for me to sleep?" Redclaw growls.

"Nooo," Fallenrain whines, rolling on top of him more, leading to some angry grumbles from Redclaw.

"You're heavy, you know? You're bigger than me," Redclaw meows.

"So do you want to lay on top of me instead?" Fallenrain asks with a smirk.

"No!" Redclaw responds.

"Can the two of you be quiet?!" Wasptooth whispers from a nest nearby. "Some of us are trying to sleep here."

"Thank you," Fallenrain hears another cat meow.

"Get off of me and go back to your nest," Redclaw growls. "Or I'll make you."

"Fine," Fallenrain meows, standing up off of her mate and rolling her eyes. She pads back over to her nest and lays back down in it, quickly falling into a deep slumber.

It has been a quite a few moons since Fallenrain's youngest kits became apprentices, and now her eldest kits are warriors named Flintflower and Honeyshade. Ferretfur's eldest kits became warriors as well named Copperwing and Willowmist. Vinekit is now an apprentice named Vinepaw. Ferretfur is finally out of the nursery as well and her relationship with Quickspring is fully repaired.

During leaf-bare, a major case of greencough spread across ShadowClan, killing many cats. Thankfully, most of Fallenrain's family was fine, with the exception of Echobird. Fallenrain was very saddened by the loss of her mother, but she was able to move on from it. All of the elders were killed, as well as Barknose, Hawkthroat, Rainbreeze, Lilyleaf, Quailwhisker, Brindlestep, and Jaybriar.

The nursery is empty now, but Fallenrain has suspicions of the possibility of more kits on the way. Flintflower and Copperwing are getting close already, and she is hoping that they will become mates and have kits. She spoke to Flintflower about it, but she said that she doesn't want kits any time soon.

Fallenrain has just woken up in the middle of the night from sleeping, but she notices that Redclaw has disappeared. Curiously, the she-cat gets up out of her nest and steps out of the warriors' den, trying to search for him. She looks around the camp for him, but the camp is completely empty. She begins to become worried for him. She catches his scent trail and begins to follow it out of camp. She begins to get even more nervous as it begins to lead to the SkyClan border.

What is he doing by the SkyClan border this late at night? While not on patrol? Fallenrain thinks as she follows his scent, then she sees it. Redclaw is standing on his side of the border chatting with a SkyClan she-cat she recognizes as Peachbloom from the other side, with three small kits by her paws, seemingly newborn. Rage fills Fallenrain as she leaps forward towards Redclaw, unable to control herself.

"Fallenrain!" Redclaw yowls at the sight of her, but it's too late, Fallenrain had knocked the smaller tom to the ground. Having caught him in a daze, she quickly and with no hesitation sinks her fangs into his neck, watching with satisfaction as his eyes roll into the back of his head and his body goes limp.

"Fallenrain! Why did you do that?!" Peachbloom cries as her kits begin to whine, sensing that something is wrong.

Fallenrain turns her head to look into Peachbloom's eyes. The fluffy pale ginger she-cats eyes are wide in terror. Then, Fallenrain leaps for Peachbloom's kits, immediately killing one with one bite.

"No, leave them alone!" Peachbloom cries, leaping for Fallenrain, filled with rage. Fallenrain predicts Peachbloom's charge and lets the fluff-ball knock her down, but then she leans upward before Peachbloom is able to pin her and bites into her neck. Peachbloom wails in pain and rakes her claws against Fallenrain's face, allowing Fallenrain to let go of her neck due to the pain. Fallenrain quickly goes after the kits again, easily killing a second one. She goes after the last one and Peachbloom tearfully leaps for Fallenrain again.

"L-Leave her alone, you monster!" Peachbloom cries, but Fallenrain dodges her attack, backing away from the newborn kit.

"You're a terrible battler. How did you become a warrior with that kind of skills?" Fallenrain insults as she goes for the kit again, killing it in one blow.

"You..." Peachbloom cries. "You... monster! Murderer!" She wails. "I'm never forgiving you for this! You and your Clan will pay for this!" She yowls. "I surrender, for I fear my life, but this is not over. I will tell Creekstar about this and SkyClan will be getting our revenge!"

"But how will you be able to do so without revealing that you've broken the warrior code by going for a heartless ShadowClan tom?" Fallenrain questions in a growl.

"I will tell them that I took my kits out of camp to see the outside world, and I was attacked by a ShadowClan warrior by the border!" Peachbloom hisses.

"Well, why would you be taking your newborn kits out of SkyClan camp, or the nursery for that matter?" Fallenrain growls again, impressed of how one cat could be so frogbrained.

"Because... uh..." Peachbloom meows, beginning to think of an excuse. "You know what, I'm going to tell the truth. And they're going to be on my side!"

"Keep thinking that, dear," Fallenrain purrs with amusement. "Now, run along before I tear you to shreds!" She hisses. Then, she watches as Peachbloom whines then dashed away as fast as she can back towards SkyClan's camp. Fallenrain lets out a sigh and looks at the four bodies of the cats she had killed.

Now what am I going to do to hide this? Fallenrain thinks.
