Chapter 2

*April 20th 2008*
*Katelyn's Pov*
It's my seventh birthday. I am so excited for our birthday party tonight the whole class is coming. I run down stairs in my pajamas and see Ryder eating my fruit loops. "Happy Birthday Ryder" I scream. He gives me a death glare.

"Katelyn it's too early"he groans. I huff and sit down with a bowl of captain crunch. We both turn our heads when we hear a bunch of footsteps running down the stairs. Blake, Michael, and Shawn run in.

"We're seven!!" they scream in unison.

"I know isn't it cool" I show them 7 fingers on my hands and we all do a group hug.

Mom walks into the kitchen holding Carter in her hands and dad follows shortly after.

"Good morning, how does it feel being seven?" mom asks us all and we all shout great, good, and more. Ryder looks at mom dead in the eyes and makes a serious face "I don't turn seven for 7 more hours momma" mom rolls her eyes and sets Carter on the chair next to Ryder. Ryder is a big pain in the butt, he's a party pooper. It's our birthday he should be excited, we get to eat a bunch of sugar and open presents and play all day!

"your grandparents are coming over soon so I want everyone to look nice please" Mom tells us all.

I run up stairs and look at my closet. It's warm outside so I am going to wear a dress. It's pink with white stripes AND A BOW!

I run down stairs and find my blue and green socks and put them on.

"mommy how do i look" I ask

"Katelyn your hair"she sighs looking frustrated. I look up at my hair but dont see anything wrong with it.

"my hairs fine mommy" i tell her

"you look like a lion sweetheart" she comes towards me with a brush and some pony tails. Oh no, I hate when she does my hair

"noooooo" I scream and start running away. The boys help me escape, Michael and Ryder hop on moms feet, Shawn and Carter jump on her front and back. Blake helps me hide. Blake and I are running away when i bump into something big. It's dad.

"lets go katelyn, mom wants to do your hair"he gives me a disappointed look. I sigh and slowly walk over to mom with my shoulders shrugged. I pout as I sit down next to mom. She starts to brush my hair and every tug I let out a groan, it starts to hurt.

"MOMMY IT HURTS" I yell

"take care of your hair then" she groans. She finishes my hair and lets me go play with my brothers. We start to play hide and seek and I am hiding in the cabinets. I hear a doorbell ring and run out of my spot "I'll get it!" I scream running towards the door. I open it up and see Shawn. "HAHA I FOUND YOU"

"MOOOOOMMM" I yell "SHAWN CHEATED"I look behind me and mom walks over looking very irritated.

"Play times over go sit and watch tv" she looks at shawn "don't cheat" Shawn looks at me with a glare

"you ratted me out" I stick my tongue out at him and run over to the couch and jump on it. We decided to watch Spongebob. We all cuddle up on the couch and i'm squeezed next to Michael and Carter. Carter's hair is all in my face "get a haircut" i groan at him. He gasps "never" I push him off of me and continue watching the show.

The doorbell rings and I watch mom get up and walk to the door, it's our grandparents!!

"GRANDMA AND GRANDPA" I yell and me, carter, and ryder all run over to them and give them hugs. Michael and Shawn run over after.

"How's my favorite seven year olds?" grandma asks us

"Grandma Adams we aren't seven yet" Ryder announces. Me and Michael look at eachother before jumping on him.

"ITS OUR BIRTHDAY JUST CELEBRATE" Michael yells at him "YEAH" I add, not knowing what to say.

"Oh Jenny you look exhausted" Grandma says to mom.

"you try controlling these demons" she looks at all of us with a funny face. Michael and I immediately get off of Ryder and stand up straight sending mom a big cheesy smile.

"Carol and Mike, how are ya?" dad says walking down the stairs.

"Hi Greg! Nice to see you" Grandma says back.

"Hi Greg" Grandpa adds. I look at Grandpa and he looks annoyed at how loud this house is. I give him another hug and a smile creeps up on his face.

"Who wants present?" Grandpa asks holding a big box with a ton of presents inside.

"Me"

"I do!"

"MEEEE"

"I WANT THEM"

"oo ooo I do"

"me me me me me"

We all run back over to the couch looking at Grandpa and giving another big smile.

He walks over slowly and puts the box down.

"Okay this looks like it's for Carter" He says while the rest of the adults file into the room to watch us open presents. The present in his hand has blue wrapping paper around it with gold stars. He pulls out a couple more with the same wrapping paper and sets them all by Carter.

"Shawn" Grandpa says holding up one with Red wrapping paper that says happy birthday all over, he hands all present with that wrapping to shawn.

"Miss Katelyn" I look at the wrapping paper and it is white with pink polka dots covering it. I squeal and clap as he hands me 5 big presents.

"Mr. Ryder" The wrapping is Orange and says happy birthday all over it. "Michael" "and last but not least Blake"

We all stare at the adults for the okay to open and we start tearing apart the wrapping paper. A bunch of gasps and ooh's and ahh's fill the room as the six of us open our gifts.

My first gift was a new Nintendo DS it's pink and came with a couple games. I have been wanting this for months now. The next one was, socks? ugh. I threw them on the floor and opened my next gift. A pretty purple t shirt that says "born to shine" I LOVE IT and then I got a fashion design book, and a mug for my hot chocolate since I drink it year round. "Thaaaank Youuuuu" we all sing in unison. Our grandparents laugh and give us all hugs. The doorbell rings again and this time Dad gets the door. "Grandma and Grandpa" we all yell in unison and run to the door again, Blake tripped me on accident so I grabbed his foot and tripped him back. I finished running over and gave them a big hug.

"Hi my darlings, Hi Greg" Grandma says giving dad a kiss on the cheek along with a hug

"How ya doing my boy?" Grandpa asks dad

"Good Good, how's the new knee holding up?" he asks

"it's doing the job" he cackles.

"Hello Jenny" they say and give mom a hug.

"Sue and Jerry, how are ya?" Mom asks then

"doin good!" they both reply and give us each our presents.

As the day goes on the adults all talk and share appetizers while my brothers and I play with our new toys. Michael and Ryder all got cool games to play outside so we took them outside and played. I was running to catch the football and Blake tackled me.

"Blake you're a big meanie, I was going to catch that" I made a poutty face.

"it's football, I was doing my job" He rolled his eyes and helped me up. I tackled him to the ground and then all the boys joined we all were fighting in the grass until mom and dad walk out "come say goodbye to gran- OH MY GOSH.. you guys are making a mess with your nice outfits, Katelyn Shaye go get cleaned up now and give me your dress" She growls. Why am I the only one in trouble for being dirty. Lame. I roll my eyes as I walk past her with my arms crossed. "your hair" mom yells at me again as she picks grass out of it. "Greg go clean her up" Dad groans with me and takes me upstairs.
