eddie

eddie sat innocently at his kitchen counter, he was mindlessly completing the homework he had acquired from the long day at school. he wore blue jeans which ran to his small hips, along side a yellow shirt which had a graphic ironed onto it. the boy squinted his eyes at the paper, trying his best to ignore the thing, which in fact he knew very well; he needed glasses.

the small boy had always struggled with his eyesight, he informed his mother about it, and she seemed to always come up with an excuse. an excuse which, of course, eddie accepted mindlessly. the boy simply could not disobey his mother. not after everything that had happened.

when eddie was only eleven, the boy's father had left the two alone with nothing to support themselves. it was at this point where eddie's mother decided that eddie was sick. it did not matter eddie's symptoms were, eddie was always gravely ill in the eyes of his mother. first it was little things, like allergies to food, then it was asthma, and now he takes four pills in the morning, three in the afternoon, and five before bed.

eddie never said anything about it to his mother.

eddie tapped his finger vigorously at the math equation he was working on solving. the numbers fused together in the blur. he brought the paper up to his hazel brown eyes and squinted further in an attempt to read the problem correctly. however, his efforts were quickly ruined by the door slamming shut. the small boy dropped the paper to the floor.

"what are you doing eddie?"

the small boy quickly whipped his head around to see who had entered his house. he eyed the maroon shirt which was paired nicely with blue jeans, similar to his own. of course, the outfit was complete with a key necklace. it was beverly.

"bev what are you doing here?" eddie said softly, glancing at the clock sitting next to him to see that it was nine forty-seven in the evening. "shit" he added walking towards the medicine cabinet, opening it carefully, and pulling out his weekly medicine container and popping the lid open, looking back to bev and raising an eyebrow.

"i wanted to show you something, can you escape?" beverly said nonchalantly, walking towards eddies refrigerator and swinging the door open. inside, while there was nor too much food inside of it, beverly grabbed a container that held cut up pieces of watermelon. she snapped the lid off of the tupperware and slid it along the counter as she walked over to eddie. "it has to do with these" beverly said with her mouth full of watermelon as she took ahold of the daisy which grew from eddie's head. eddie winced in pain at the tug and beverly pulled her hand away, popping another watermelon piece in her mouth.

"where are we going anyways?" eddie said, reaching past beverly to grab the water cup that was sitting near his homework. "and who is coming?" he questioned. he learned that this was a very important question to ask before he did anything with beverly.

the small boy took a swig of water and swallowed all five of his, forty-seven minute late, pills as beverly responded simply, "me, obviously, bill denbrough, richie tozier, and, hopefully, you." she said, returning the stray lid to the watermelon container, popping one final piece into her mouth as she did so. "and we're going to smoke, daisy." she said.

eddie was not particularly fond of the nickname which regarded to the pink daisy which flowed from his curly locks. he reached a hand up and touched the flower delicately. he knew more would grow.
