"Oof!"Ron let out a veritable screech before jumping back a few feet. He had thrown his trunk with his robes rather carelessly into their compartment before a dull "thud" was heard.
"Bloody hell?" He exclaimed before he saw a head of black hair pop out of nowhere and a pair of extremely dull, solemn eyes staring back at him listlessly.
"That hurt," Dante Kim said.
"No kidding," Ron scratched his head, "what are you doing in our compartment?"
"Sitting," Dante deadpanned before taking a large bite out of her Cauldron Cake. There was a purr coming from beside her, which Harry could only guess was her talking cat.
"You still haven't answered our question?" Hermione said haughtily, "what are you doing here? I suppose you cast a Disillusionment Charm upon yourself too..."
"That I did," Dante nodded sagely, "I wanted to keep out of sight."
"Why, might I ask?"
"You can ask all you want," Dante waved her cake around carelessly, "but I am not obligated to reply to you."
Hermione colored visibly. "It's rude not to answer a question."
"It's also rude to throw a suitcase at someone's face."
"Hey, in my defense," Ron threw up his hands in exasperation, "I didn't see you."
"Rude, Ronald Weasley," Dante shook her head, her mane of dark hair swishing with her movement.
Ron just gaped, "It's Ron, not Ronald."
"Same difference."
Ron was speechless, as was Hermione.
"Can you just tell us what you're doing here?" Harry asked, taking the foreign role of mediator.
Dante shrugged, "I want to cash in that favor I asked from you a while back. Permit me to stay in this compartment."
Harry blinked. "You want to sit with us?"
"No," She scowled, "I just want to keep my ass in my seat, thank you very much."
Harry exchanged a glance with Ron and Hermione. "Well," He said a bit uncertainly, "you did help us with Buckbeak and all, so I suppose I owe you."
Dante snorted, "You suppose? We made a deal, fair and square."
Hermione pursed her lips, but she allowed herself to sit across from Dante. "So why do you want to sit with us Gryffindors all of a sudden? I thought you thought yourself better than us."
"Oh, trust me, I am better," Dante said nonchalantly, "if I had any other choice, I wouldn't sit here."
She looked up to see Ron and Harry still staring at her. "It was a joke," She muttered, "I'm not actually egotistical...you know..."
"Anyways," Hermione emphasized, "I thought you would have preferred sitting with your Slytherin friends."
"Hmm, should have used that favor to get you to shut up instead," Dante said, stopping only when she saw the hurt on Hermione's face. "Sorry," She dropped her head, "I'm not in the best of moods. That was insensitive of me."
