"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE" my dad roared, shoving me out the door. I limped away, not even looking back.

We had moved here 3 weeks ago and I have already been kicked out 10 times. At first, I wandered the streets, that was until this gang had almost seen me. Now I go to the nearby park, it's further away which hurts me more, but it's worth it to stay away from more danger.

I got to the park and went on the swing. It's about 8pm, so it's pretty dark since it's winter. My teeth chattered and I kept shivering but I couldn't do anything to help it.

It was about an hour later when I met him. I was laying on the bench, looking up at the stars, not noticing a darkened figure nearby. The first thing I noticed was a voice, I thought I was being spoken to so I sat up and looked for who was talking.

There was a boy, about my age who was watching me from the swings. 'Why is she out here?' I heard,
"Why are you out here?" I asked, avoiding his question. He seemed a bit taken aback, 'how can she see me?' I heard, getting annoyed that he wasn't actually speaking directly to me.

"Of course I can see you, it's not that dark yet" I replied.
"How do you know what I'm thinking?" He asked, this time his mouth moved, showing me that maybe he didn't say anything before.

The moment I realised that, something clicked in my mind. It was like a switch had been turned on and information flooded my brain, I can control minds. I was hearing his thoughts before, that's why he was surprised.

"I guessed" I lied, although it was a terrible lie. He got up and started moving towards me, but he stopped when he saw me properly.
"Are you hurt?" He asked. I looked at my arms, there were a few cuts and bruises, but my leg looked really bad. I just shrugged, knowing I couldn't lie because he had already seen it.

He came and sat beside me on the bench, his face was still strangely hidden from view, as if shadows were preventing me from seeing it. 'What do I say? Do I ask how it happened?' He thought. I just sat there, knowing that he was only thinking these things and not asking me.

"So, why are you out here?" He finally asked.
"You have to answer my question first" I said.
"I was going to meet a friend here" he told me. 'But I don't think he's coming' he thought.
"Same, I was meeting a friend" I lied.
