Hey. So that book report..do you think we could meet up today and work on it?
Getting Luke's phone number was a whole new basis for Nova. She even learned his last name, but that wasn't nearly as exciting as getting his phone number. Now, she had direct access to (hopefully) a new friendship in which the other person didn't treat her like complete shit.
"You're getting tutored by a boy from Mulgrove? Are you sure he's actually intelligent? People from Mulgrove aren't typically smart, Nove."
Nova's friendship with Juliana was one of the only few that actually lasted all these years. Everyone else had become "too cool" or had completely changed from the person they were in the beginning. That wasn't uncommon when it came to high school though. Everyone changes.
"One, it's not tutoring. It's helping. And two, he's a writer. You can tell by the way he talks that he's smart. He uses words that I've never even heard before."
Juliana sat on Nova's bed, her back against the wall. She, unlike Nova, was completely doubtful of the boy she had never met. Then again, she doubted all of the Mulgrove boys after dating one of them the year before. "Is that the only thing you know about him? What if he's a sociopath? If you keep meeting up with him, he might kill you," lectured Jules.
The purple-haired girl sat in her underwear amongst a pile of clean and dirty clothes on her floor as she tried to pick out an outfit. "That's not the only thing I know about him. He...uh... I'm pretty sure he plays a sport or something. He's one of those skinny, built guys," Nova described as she pulled a grey sweater on. "He's best friends with Calum Hood and some artist kid with social anxiety that he's trying to help. Oh, and he gets really nervous around me. It's really funny, actually."
"Calum Hood?" Juliana questioned, her eyes wide. "This kid must be a ten if he's best friends with Calum Hood."
"He has a lip ring and he dresses like male models from the city...gone grunge. And he's blonde, incase I didn't mention it before."
Rolling her eyes, the brunette looked at the mess of clothes. "He sure sounds like your type."
"He totally is, Jules. You would think so too if you met him." Nova stood up and reached for a pair of black leggings off of the floor. As she pulled them on, she heard her phone vibrate from under a pair of jeans. "He texted back, oh my Lord."
"What did he say?" asked Juliana, sitting up a little bit taller. She watched as her friend unlocked her phone and the screen illuminated her face. Nova read the text with wide eyes as she stood still.
"'Yeah, of course. We can meet at whatever time is convenient for you.'" She scrambled to type an answer as her phone vibrated again. "Second text. He texted again. He's a double texter," declared Nova excitedly as she scanned the screen with her green eyes. "'Do you want to work on it at my place or yours?'"
"His place," Juliana answered almost instantly as she flipped pages in a magazine. "Make sure you get a good look at his room...see if it's broken in or not."
Nova threw a tanktop at her for her remark before fixing her hair in the mirror. "I don't even know if he's that type of guy yet."
"Calum Hood is his best friend. I'm sure he's fucked a girl or two. He might not even be single."
"That first part doesn't even matter to me," said Nova. "He's not a dick so far, that's what counts. The number of people he's fucked doesn't matter."
"Actually, the number of people someone's fucked doesn't matter; it's whether or not they're hot enough for that to be an accurate number," Ashton, Nova's older brother, peeked his head in.
