Forbidden Love

Part 4

Briar POV

After I showed everyone the routine all the girls started practicing. They have twenty minutes left before they have to show us. I've just been sitting here next to Emily and Victoria, watching my friends and Abbey practice; making sure they know the routine perfectly. The routine is medium level and a bit easier than most of the routines we perform and so far they're doing great. I just really want all my girls to get in the team!

"OKAY EVERYONE COME IN." Emily stands up.

Vic and I follow her lead and stand too as everyone else walks up to us. I can see how nervous Abbey is, but I watched her practice and I know she'll be fine.

"We're going to walk over to boys who are trying out for the football team and cheer them on now! While you are doing that we will be assessing you all and choosing who gets in." Emily explains.

"Keep focused and don't let your nerves take over you." Vic says. "Good luck!"

We walk over to the spot besides the field where we always cheer at when there's a game. The boys are all in the middle of trying out right now so we may as well cheer them on while trying out ourselves. Everyone gets in formation and begins doing the routine I showed them.

Vic and Emily begin writing down notes as do I. Jessica is doing amazing as she always does; she's the best on the team besides me of course. Dylan is also doing great and she'll definitely make it on the team. Shelby is extremely flexible and we really need that on our cheer team so it'll be easy for her to get in. Logan's technique is on point and Brittany just has some sort of energy about her so I'm sure they'll both make it on the team. Alex and Abbey are also doing good but I ain't gonna lie they aren't at Jessica, Dylan, Shelby, Logan or Britt's level yet but seeing as Alex was on the team last year it'll give her an advantage and will probably get in because of that ... I just worry for Abbey.

As they finish the routine everyone lets out a sigh of relief as though a weight has been lifted off their shoulders. It must feel good to have gotten it over and done with. Vic, Em and I walk away slightly and begin to talk about who's in the team.

"Well I think its obvious that Jessica, Dylan, Shelby and Logan are all in the team for sure. Am I right?" Vic says.

"Yes, omg did you see Logan's lines and I don't know how its possible but Shelby seems even more flexible than last year." Emily laughs in disbelief.

"So that leaves 3 more open spots." I say, starting to feel nervous as Abbey and Alex's names haven't been mentioned yet.

"Who were you thinking?" Vic asks me.

"I'm thinking Brittany, I mean she did pretty good. It wasn't her best but we all know how good she is when she isn't under as much pressure. And besides she's been on this team for years now, it would be weird to kick her out now." I exlpain.

"Yes, thats what I was thinking too." Emily agrees with me and Vic nods too. "But I'm not so sure about Alex; I mean she was good but I think other people did better."

"Like who?" I ask.

"Your sister, Abbey, for one." Emily tells me.

I feel relieved that Abbey is most likely getting in but also worried for Alex. She's one of closest friends, I don't want her to get cut. 

"Abbey was definitely a bit better than Alex," Vic agrees. "But Alex has been on the team for years now too."

"I was thinking we could add both of them on the team." I suggest, anxiously.

Victoria and Emily take a minute to think it  over and re-read their notes before looking up and saying, "Okay, I think we have our team." So I think that means all my girls got in! YAY! We walk back over to everyone and Vic and Emily give me a nod to start calling out who got in.

"Alright everyone, it was a tough decision but I think we have our team." I start. "If I call out your name then you have made it into out team, if not then I am sorry but you didn't make it this year." I pause before starting again. "Jessica, Dylan, Shelby, Logan, Brittany, Alex and Abbey, CONGRATULATIONS YOU ALL GOT IN THE TEAM!!!"

"AHHHHH!" Everyone squeals and we all go in for a group hug.
