TWO YEARS LATER

We were sitting on the beach where I had saved her a couple years ago. We had grown up. We were still the same people as we were 2 years ago, yet evolved. It was New Year's Eve, almost 2020. We were with all our friends, barbecuing, running in the sand, laughing, eating, drinking. A voice called out my name, a familiar, cute voice.

"Sof!" called Dove.

She was in the water, without a single doubt, even in the cold weather.

"Coming!" I replied.

I walked over to the line where the sand and ocean met, when I felt an undertaking pull me through the calm, blue, freezing water.

Before I could even try to scream, something pulled me up. It was a giggling Dove, the same undertaking that pulled me down.

I couldn't be mad. I jumped on her, causing her to nearly stumble backwards.

"Payback!" I yelled, laughing and smiling.

"Oh you." she said. "Always on the route of revenge."

"You know me." I said.

"Sure do. And I'm eternally grateful." she said, smiling softly.

"Hey lovebirds, it's almost midnight! Get out of the water!" yelled China.

We both laughed simultaneously, and ran out of the water.

Dove looked extremely nervous. She quickly grabbed her sweater and something square shaped out of a bag. She hid the mystery object in her sweater pocket and ran over to me. She pulled me into a side hug, and mouthed something to Thomas.

"What time?"
"11:58."
She nodded.

I was confused, but disregarded it. I checked my phone. A minute to midnight. Dove abruptly turned around to me.

"Sofia, I love you. I love you more than anyone more in this world. You are kind, funny, beautiful, caring, sweet, and everything anyone could want in a girlfriend. I'm so lucky you're mine. Sofia, would you please make me the happiest girl in the world and be my wife?"

She pulled out the box. It was a ring box. With the most beautiful ring I had ever seen, with a stunning blue and purple gem in the middle. She didn't!

I immediately started to cry. It felt like my heart was beating at 500mph. I couldn't process what she had just said. It felt like slow motion.

"Yes!"

Midnight.

Dove tackle-hugged me, pushing us right into the sand. She put the ring on my finger, and all our friends were cheering and hugging us.

It felt surreal. I was going to get married to the love of my life.

She kissed me and it felt like the world stopped. We got up and hugged our friends.

China asked me, "How do you feel?"

I said...
"Engaged, I guess?"
(I know I said I'd be inactive, but apparently people were still reading this story, so I decided to do another chapter just for fun. I don't ship Dofia at all anymore, but I just wanted to continue for fun. I hope you enjoyed this :) )
