"Babe that's amazing!" Harper exclaimed.

Cordelia had just told her about the job offer she got. She left out the part where she had only known the man for a matter of five minutes. Harper had always been protective of her.

"I know. I really needed this."

"But Lia. You hate cleaning." Harper realized.

"I know. But I'm supposed to get paid well. And I get a place to live." She put her hands up.

"Good point. Let's celebrate."

She walked away and a moment later she walked back with a bottle of alcohol in one hand, and a jar of peanut butter in the other.

"Alcohol for me. Peanut Butter for you." She said handing the jar to her.

"Thank you." She said taking the jar greedily.

Peanut butter was her most favorite thing in the world. Harper thought it was weird how she could eat it out of the jar with a spoon.

But some cheering up is what she needed. So Harper put on the movie Aladdin, gave Cordelia a spoon, and celebrated her new job.

They celebrated with a comfortable silence. This is exactly what she needed. Her favorite movie, peanut butter, and her best friend.

*******

The next day she starts her new job. She was happy but absolutely nervous. She had never been an official housekeeper before.

She cleaned her house a lot when her mom was sick. But she never got paid for it. Cordelia got up and got some breakfast before following the directions Mr. Mikaelson gave her.

She figured if she were going to be working with him, she would call him Mr. Mikaelson. When she arrived at the house she was in awe.

Saying the house was big, was an understatement. It was basically a mansion. No it was a mansion.

Cordelia started to get worried and rubbed her flowered hand again. How is she supposed to clean this big house? Mr. Mikaelson told her there was no other staff because she was only cleaning the downstairs and their rooms.

But still, this made her nervous. She rolled suitcase up the driveway and knocked on the door. A man with a suit and tie that look freshly pressed opened the door.

"Ah you must be Miss. Evanson. Niklaus told me he hired a new housekeeper yesterday. I do hope you enjoy your stay." The man said inviting her in.

"Thank you. I'm Cordelia. But you knew that because you said my last name." She trailed off feeling stupid.

He chuckled lightly. "Elijah Mikaelson. Pleased to make your acquaintance." He picked up her hand and kissed it lightly.

She smiled and allowed him to lead her upstairs where she would be staying.

"You'll be living here and working here. So please make yourself at home." He said once they got to her room.

It looked like one of many guest rooms. She was excited to even be here. She grew up with next to nothing. Now she was basically living in a mansion. If only her mom could see her now.

She packed away her things and found a bucket of cleaning supplies next to her bed. She opened her door and started to walk around looking for things to clean.

A door opened and she was met with none other than the man who hired her.
